Epiphone Prophecy Futura Custom FX (Floyd, EMG-81/85 Pickups) Review

I'll be honest. I don't think this guitar is for everyone. Other than receiving the actual guitar in a mess (de-tuned, very very very low action, ridiculous unplayable buzzing and offset bridge etc, etc....don't worry... did not buy it from this particular seller XD), After i got it fixed, it played excellent. I can't judge it too harshly because i've been playing a jackson rr-3 for 2 years, and the floyd rose on that particular model of guitar is completely flush with the body, and i know most floyds are not, but rather raised, above the body. Also, the pick-ups are a bit too close together for my liking, and i have a really hard time getting harmonics out of the g-string, but that's just my experience, and i would say 'because of that' but i really don't know if that's the cause. And of course it's about twice the weight of an rr3 so you get a bit sore after a while, but i can't complain about that. Other than that, it has a nice fast neck, reasonably slim, plays nice, but pick-ups seem a bit over-responsive.

B.C. Rich NJ Deluxe Warlock Electric Guitar Onyx Review

Both my son and I own this guitar. Well actually, I own the original 1983 NJ with all of the active electronics special switches and the Kahler tremolo. Mine was made by the master craftsmen in Nagoya Japan, hence the model NJ. My son owns the new one, made in Korea. Although they do not sound alike, the new one is well made and worth every penny. Honestly, the Korean guitar makers are really good right now. Although the pickups are stock BC Rich made, the guitar sounds deep and punchy. It feels wonderful and plays like a dream. The action is so low (1/32nd at the 24th fret). We took it to Hobbs at Union Grove Music in Santa Cruz to have it set up with low action and 11-52 GHS strings. Hobbs is the BOMB!!! The finish is really high quality. It is probably between 3/64th and and 1/32nds thick. It is not headstock heavy, but it is not a light guitar. I honestly feel that it compares to the quality of the originals and the USA BC Rich guitars, too.

This guitar was the fourth guitar I bought. At first, I thought it as a entry level guitar. But after playing for a couple of times it blew me away. I have an Ibanez XPT700XH and a Marshall 1000W tower amp. I tried to compare the sound quality and pick up's performance , I was shocked to hear the BC rich produce more powerful heavy sounds than the Ibanez. Thus, if your a metal freak like me this guitar is good for shredding and sweeping but for recording and stuff, this is not the guitar to look for.
For: Graphics, volume and tone adjusters , value for money and the most important part: The Looks and the whammy bar.
Against: Plastic Humbuckers , No fret inlay stickers like the advanced series ,only some dots above(that would have made it look cooler). Body quality-A bit heavy and its made in china.
All in all a badass guitar to add to your collection. For metal: BC Rich. For pro: Ibanez. (I am not a pro)

When Something is too good for human beings, Its not available. THere is one used to sell in the world but no more.
everytime I want a good ultra killer guitar, I/you have to pay 3000$ to 6500$.
Worst again, you always have to ask for custom shop over the jackson's and others.
The time to accumulates 2600$ will pass and they will be no more, but thats okay,
Ill buy a jeff hanneman guitar and switches the tuners, the locking nut and every pieces for jet black color, and upgrade for a 2315 jet black kahler bridge. ( like Jeff )
Its such a rage against guitar companies. But it looks like the people wants to have gentle soft kid-like guitars. Unbelievable world. guitar companies are the MAFIA.

ESP LTD AX-50 Electric Guitar Silver Satin Chrome Hardware Review

This guitar is playable out of the box, it's got a heavy/chunky kind of sound, the pick ups are nice, not the greatest but they're good. I loved it as soon as I started playing it. It's one of those guitars that attracts you to play well on it when you pick it up. It's bigger than you'd think, and the silver is beautiful, it's not too heavy, not too light, kind of perfect balance. The fretboard is fast and you'll have no problem going up and down this thing like I95. Did I Mention that it's really attention grabbing? My only qualm with it is that It had a lot of fret buzz when I started playing it but I guess I'll have to break it in.....BUY IT!

AXL Mayhem FireAx Electric Guitar, Black Review

AXL Mayhem FireAx Electric Guitar, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was never looking into this guitar i was looking into B.C Rich's Red bevel warlock guitar, but as i was going to purchase it, it sold out. out of desperation i frantically searched for a new stylish guitar and i saw this one and quickly ordered it. When it got here i was happy playing it but while spending time with it i soon realized its potential. The floating tremelo works like a dream when using the whammy bar for certain songs, the frets are jumbo as advertised, the neck is thin which allows me to go up and down the fret board with ease for songs like roulette or aces high, the strings i really didn't care for because i replaced them with Ernie ball power slinky which is great, the pickups are nice but i feel as if i want to replace them with something a bit stronger, though EMG did out do themselves with it, the clamps on the bridge come to good use and enhance the tone while playing (ive played with and without them and its better with) I love the shape, the pick up switch is very useful when switching from metal to acoustic but can cause a ruckus if your settings or amp is a bit too sensitive. (one pro and con of the pick up is that it hears EVERYTHING so excess noise has to be cleaned if your sloppy on the fret board or just movement period) It is an overall great guitar that id love to buy again (in a different color)

B.C. Rich NJ Deluxe Warbeast Guitar, Onyx Review

B.C. Rich NJ Deluxe Warbeast Guitar, Onyx
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this guitar because I missed my last one (a B.C. Rich "Warlock"--Bronze series), which I sold over a decade ago. Back then, I didn't have the EMG pickups, but wanted them. When I saw that B.C. Rich had put EMG pickups into their guitars, it made it all the more important that I get a new one. I deliberated between this guitar and the VERY similar B.C. Rich NJ Deluxe "Warlock", and ultimately chose this one. I'm very happy with it.
It is well worth the money. The quality is extremely high. The pearl binding all around the edge of the guitar is safe behind the ultra-glossy surface, and accented by white. To me, it looks like the whole guitar was originally white, with the black painted on top of it--and, of course, the pearl put on.
The fretboard is Ebony, which is said to be very hard-to-work-with (for craftsmen making things). It's highly polished, smooth, and I don't know if it was painted or if it was soaked in stain, or what, but it's very nice and black. The guitar has Grover tuners (best possible tuners for guitars), and an original Floyd Rose tremelo. The EMG pickups are the "81" and the "85". Though the sound of a guitar is altered by what you put it through (amps, effects, and so forth), all I can say here is it just sounds professional and it seems the pickups do a great job of getting it from the strings to the amp. I bought a Line 6 combo amp, and it has all kinds of effects (clean channel, metal, crunch, insane; reverb, phaser, tremelo, chorus...) and through all of those, this guitar performs well.
The sustain is incredible! It is so cliche' to say "Sustain for DAYS!" haha (as I've heard many guitarists say that), but it's true of this guitar. It has to be the neck-thru-construction. It's a single piece. Don't expect a bolt-on with this guitar--this one is a higher class, and you can't see a seam in the back where the neck meets the body, because there isn't a seam. It's all smooth and one sloping piece.
It's a guitar that should last for years and years. Some reviews I have read (over on another Musician's store site) commented about the edging flaking off. Frankly, I can't see how they could say such about this guitar--or what they must have been doing to it to get that to happen (if it did at all), because the gloss is very thick. I doubt I will ever have a problem with that. It could have been a fluke (that theirs did that), and|or the company might have started putting more clear coating on it. Whatever the case, I sure don't see that potential here, unless one bangs it around against something hard.
My guitar arrived safely, double-boxed (the inside box being one of those almost triangular shaped boxes, generally form-fitting the guitar). I was worried about it arriving unscathed, but had no need to fear. the inner box had blocks of styrofoam glued in place around the guitar, and the inner box was taped shut with packing tape. There was a large quantity of brown wadded paper around the inner box (inside the large one). The shipping invoice or data says 40lbs, but it didn't feel like it. Everything arrived safely, and on time. It came fully stringed and tuned (though I re-tuned it). I don't know what brand strings they put on it, but it seems like it comes with 'nines'. Something rather light, in any case; if not medium. I had bought GHS Boomers ('nines') in preparation for it, but haven't had to use them yet.
There's not a whole lot else to say, except: B.C. Rich, EMG Pickups, and high quality! The price is great. With EMG pickups each going for about $120 (give or take), by the time you consider the $240 of that, and the $800 price of the whole guitar, it has to hit you that you're getting their higher quality level guitar here for an astounding price. This guitar retails for $1,200. B.C. Rich does have a higher level (where they make the guitars by hand), and those cost a few thousand. This one was made in Korea, and says so right on the back of the headstock (where it also has a unique serial number), all embedded under the glossy coat. On the front of the headstock is the familiar logo--this one reflecting the pearl design--as well as the 'Warbeast NJ DLX' to denote the model.
One volume knob (for both pickups) and one tone knob on the front of the body; as well as the three-way toggle switch to select either pickup, or both at the same time. A tremelo ("whammy bar") screws on. All hardware is in black.
There are three black plastic panels on the back. Access panels. Behind one, the compartment where you can add the extra (fourth) spring if you want more tension on the tremelo (it has three on there already). Behind another, access to the knobs|electronics. Behind the third and last panel is a 9-volt battery, since these are "active pickups", giving a boost to the sound. When the battery runs down, all you'll notice is that the sound gets quieter. Active pickups add more punch. The EMG pickups are enclosed in epoxy resin, sealed tight, so no dust will ever get in there, and they won't corrode.UPDATE: It's been a little over a month since I ordered and received this guitar. And playing it has been a pure pleasure! :-)
I have to add this: this B.C. Rich guitar sure does stay in tune! Every so often, after really wailing and shredding on it, I'll go plug in the cable to the chromatic tuner I have, only to find out it either doesn't need any tweaking, or the required tweaks (at the tremelo) are VERY minimal at best.

This is the my fourth lifetime guitar lol. Im 20 and have been playing for about 7 years. I had a Les Paul that i paid around 1299 for and it was nothing in comparison. This is without a doubt the finest instrument that i have owned. Once i got it in tune i'd say it lasted 3 times longer than the Gibson did before i had to do it again. Its a fine instrument and its a must from the experienced player on down to those who are just becoming interested in music. 6/5 stars. Is'nt it time to get your Wings, Dean for life.

Finally its mine!!! Ever since I was a kid I have wanted to own Kirks pride and joy ESP guitar. Bought it for myself as a gift for surviving 3 tours in the middle east. Since Im not willing to shell out over $9,999 for some super edition guitar this one suits me fine. This one has everything that the $10K guitar has but not with cool graphics and a computer printed "autograph" on it. It has a very nice sound, the fret board is super smooth and built for his style of playing which is fast in case you dont know. The damn thing is a diamond in guitar form. Keeps its tune for a while too. Not so easy to tune back up but you will get used to it. Hey, great quality guitars cause for high maintenance. If youre willing to spend the money this is actually worth investing in if you plan on keeping it for life.

B.C. Rich Kerry King Metal Master V Generation 2 Guitar, Black with Tribal Graphic Review

B.C. Rich Kerry King Metal Master V Generation 2 Guitar, Black with Tribal Graphic
Average Reviews:

I bought this on a lark when it showed up as a Gold Box deal one day for half its normal price. I've long had a hankering for a V-shaped guitar ever since having my mind bent by Michael Schenker and his Gibson Flying V with UFO circa 1982, and this seemed like a good opportunity to finally feed that Jones.
This made-in-China BC Rich is cosmetically quite nice. The high gloss finish is pristine, the tribal graphic is flashy without quite crossing the line to gaudy, the chrome is shiny, the many pointy corners arrived unchipped, and the frets are reasonably well-dressed. The only minor quibble I have with appearance is the mild splotchiness of the rosewood fretboard.
Functionally, however, this guitar feels decidedly mediocre for the following reasons:
- The action was buzzy on the low E, though that was easily fixed by raising the bridge a bit.
- The intonation, on the other hand, could not quite be dialed in -- I cannot simultaneously get both the high and low strings intonated correctly. I had to set the bridge to a compromise position where neither the high strings nor low strings are exactly right.
- The tuners are mediocre at keeping the guitar in tune from session to session.
- The BDSM (that's Broad Dynamic Sonically Matched, you perverts) humbuckers' tone is quite unremarkable, and there is not much difference between the neck and bridge pickups. That in combination with the single tone control means there is not a very broad range of tones possible with this guitar. I suppose BC Rich assumed that this guitar would only be played through heavy distortion effects, and that this wouldn't be a serious drawback.
Had I paid full price for this guitar, I'd probably feel pretty grumpy every time I looked at it. At its Gold Box price, however, I'm pretty happy to just look at this pretty piece of eye candy hanging on the wall. Fortunately, I have several better guitars to pick up for actually playing.

Dean Dime Guitar from Hell with Case Review

Dean Dime Guitar from Hell with Case
Average Reviews:

Dime would be proud, I loved his Washburn guitars, but always wanted a Dean like he started with... when they came out with these dime lines I kept telling myself I didn't need one, when they started selling them on Amazon, I watched them for years, finally Amazon tempted me too greatly with the $526 price tag and I jumped in and wish I had done so sooner... This thing shreds... I love playing it. I liked Dean, but hadn't owned one, they are great for their price range and even better getting them for a steal. It sounds great, plays fast, and looks good doing it. The case is great too.
Besides if you're looking at this you already know why you want it, I'm just affirming that it is the one you're looking for...

Dean Custom Run Razorback Electric Guitar Trans Black Review

Dean Custom Run Razorback Electric Guitar Trans Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was looking for a certain sound. I've been a pro musician for over 10 years now and knew exactly what I was looking for. The Dean Custom Run Razorback Transblack is limited to 100 produced and is the only Razorback I've seen that does not have the "D.I.M.E" logo stenciled on the head. Mine is #56 of 100. Pickups are the EMG 81/85 combo and it has the Afterburner circuit, which is like a solo switch with -20db gain. Tone is amazing for metal and cleans up nicely for just about any other type of music. The set v-neck is amongst my favorite features as it sets well in my hand. The Floyd Rose works as it should, regardless of its "status" (original, licensed, ripped-off, who knows...) and any decent guitar player should be able to keep it as in-tune as possible without being a hard-tail. Tuners are a gunmetal color which suits the color scheme perfectly. It comes with a hard case, which is necessary and huge (roadies think it is my keyboard!). It is a pretty heavy guitar and you are likely to skewer your band mates with its spikes as you wield it around like a battle axe, but it makes for a better stage show!
The Transblack color is awesome. Black is just black, many of the Razorback models are a bit "busy" for my advanced age, and this guitar has me looking for others with a similar finish. Dean makes a Vendetta Transblack and PRS makes a 7 string in Transblack that would both look sick sitting next to this one.
USA Razorbacks such as the Rebel and Rust Tribute are upwards of $4K and do not have the EMGs. If you are in the market for a pro level guitar and haven't considered the DCR Transblack, do yourself a favor and try one out. You'll be impressed.

Dean Hardtail Guitar, Select Trans Red Review

Dean Hardtail Guitar, Select Trans Red
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had this guitar for 3 years. I've used it for dozens of shows and extensively in a home/studio environment as my primary tracking guitar.
Likes:
*Sound and tone control - The pickup selector allows you to select between one or both humbucker pickups. You can also single/double-tap the pickups by pulling up or pushing down on the tone knobs to mix and match single-coil sounds. The range of tones this guitar can produce is surprising.
*Action - I like the spacing and size of the frets. If you set the string height at the right height, this guitar can shred and it is very fun to play.
*Finish - the paint, style, and color are gorgeous with the silver hardware.
*Light Weight - At first I thought this guitar was too light and wouldn't give me much sustain, but it's really not that noticeable compared to similar heavier guitars.
*Tuners are great, stays in tune.
Dislikes:
*Lost a star for road-worthy durability. One of the double tap knobs eventually got pulled out of the socket (still working not fix that one). The wood on the headstock cracked during a show because it fell a short distance off a guitar stand into some drywall. This was not a particularly hard or violent fall. I have other guitars that have survived much worse.
*When shipped brand-new, one of the frets had a small groove on the neck that caused the high-e string to get stuck off the fretboard occasionally. A minor Q/A flaw I easily resolved with a small dab of industrial wood glue.
Bottom Line:
* For the features, tone, and looks at this price, I would certainly purchase this guitar again. It's served me very well.
