I heard that and immediately thought of my cousin's 9 yo daughter Meganne. I sent Meganne the La Guitara CD & asked her if she'd like to learn to make that kind of music. Meganne is now the proud owner of a powder pink Pixie acoustic. The reduced girth of the neck is perfect for a girl's hand. Daisy Rock offers the Pixie alone or as part of a starter pack; I chose the latter option. My whole family is quite pleased with Daisy Rock Girl Guitars.

Ion iGP03C Electric Guitar Kit with Gig Bag Review

(More customer reviews)i bought this guitar and i was very happy with it as i knew nothing about guitars, i then compared this to other guitars like fender, gibson and ibanez and i was shocked. I have been playing guitar for 3 years now and i am now a proud owner of a gibson les paul. This guitar has no tone, it doesn't give you the feel other guitars give you. The pickups are lifeless, the tone and volume controls get wobbly after a few touches and the 5-way selector feels cheap. The amp is ok for starters but the lead that comes with it makes a horrible buzzing sound which gets higher when you put on distortion and turn the volume up, so aslong as you buy a new cable the amp should be ok.
If you really want a guitar worth your money at this price then go for a fender squier strat which has just about everything this pack has but the guitar and amp are so much better, even if the amp is 10-WATT on the fender and its 15-WATT on the ion version, the fender sounds so much more lively

Lyon KISS - 2006 Autographed Electric Guitar, Limited Edition Review

(More customer reviews)For an entry level guitar, this one is much more solid than many other brands (first act, yamaha, even some fender in my book). But, you get what you pay for. This is a Lyon by Washburn guitar, the beginning line of Wasburns, and not even on their website. But, this guitar has decent sound at a decent price. It is also a collectable, signed by Paul stanley of kiss, 7500 made. It is not going to be a great guitar, but it will do for beginners, and can be upgraded in time if wanted. A great collectors item for kiss fans as well. Check it out. Also available in this 2006 autograph line are 3 other guitars, one by the Weezer guitarist, one by the All american rejects guitarist, and one by Fallout boys guitarist. Included in all are 3 picks, a strap, and the authetic autograph proof card, and a poster on the box.

Yamaha CPX500 Acoustic Electric Guitar, Dark Red Burst Review

(More customer reviews)I won't be silly and say this is better than the best Taylor or Takamine but it IS a great value for a $349 guitar. I've had mine for nearly a year now and the onboard tuner works great (I play around with lots of alternate tunings and this makes it FAST - not always looking around for my separate Korg tuner), it stays in tune well meaning the tuners are good hardware, the action is low but not too low where it gets buzy (and therefore easy to fret), it looks great (much better than the awful Amazon picture), and plays right out of the box. I have three other acoustics including a Martin but this Yamaha is the only one I play for all of the above reasons. The finish on the guitar is well done and the binding is solid/good materials are used ESPECIALLY considering this relatively low price point. Unless you buy this CPX500 thinking you are getting $1500 Taylor, you will NOT be disappointed. Oh, and sounds great either through amp or just acoustic. Good tones for a slightly more shallow body. The fact that it is less bulky makes it easier to plunk into your lap and start playing some cool tunes too!

You can usually find this product cheaper than the listed [...] price if you look around online. That being said, this kit is great for the price. Sure the guitar isn't the greatest, but the amp alone usually retails for nearly the price you can find this whole kit online. I already owned a guitar and just wanted a real tube amp, so I bought this package since I was essentially getting the guitar and accessories as a freebie. If you go into it with that thinking, you'll be very happy with your purchase. I wouldn't recommend the guitar as a primary instrument, however, unless you are just starting out on guitar. It's a fine beginner type guitar.

Epiphone Limited Edition Hummingbird Artist Acoustic Guitar, Ebony Review

(More customer reviews)This is a decent guitar for the price point. It is well made, has a nice, balanced sound, good tone, and, for the money, really is a decent guitar. It sounds, honestly, just as good as any of the Seagull Guitar models, or any of the "lower-end" ($ 600-$ 800 and up) Martins or Taylors. Isn't that a shame when you spend $ 600-$ 800 on a guitar, and it is considered to be their "lower end", or more consumer friendly labeled "Entry Level" instruments?
The craftsmanship is pretty good based against what you will see, generally, from instruments in this price range.
It's only drawback is that it doesn't have a ton of volume. It isn't very loud, and doesn't project very well. Really, that's my only quibble with this guitar.
Some of the factory set ups can be hit and miss, so, plan to need to take this to your local music store for a professional setup. Once professionally set up, it plays really, really well.
As a note, also, I wanted an Epiphone Hummingbird guitar, but did not want the bright "Cherry Burst", as it comes in. I've always been a fan of "Tobacco Burst", which this guitar is very near to, so, I decided to go with this model. I found that Epiphone (Gibson) doesn't sell much in the line of aftermarket parts, so, the only hope of putting a Hummingbird pick guard on this instrument, which I had intended to do, is to buy an aftermarket replica. I like to have original manufacturer parts on my instruments, so I'm stuck with it, as is.
It's still a Hummingbird, just without the Hummingbird pickguard that makes the Hummingbird a Hummingbird.

Squier by Fender Classic Vibe Precision Bass 60's, Fiesta Red Review

(More customer reviews)I got this bass from the local Guitar Center three months ago and I have to say that it is really an awesome instrument. I have been playing for about six years now and never thought I would buy a Squier. I have a Highway 1 jazz bass that no other bass has come close to in terms of comfort, playability, and sound until now. I really lovethe p-bass tone and I would not be able to guess that this was a squier if you covered up the word squier on the headstock. My only gripe is a minor one, I am used to the satin finish on my Highway 1 so the thicker gloss on the neck of the Squier took a little getting used to. This is an incredible bass. Compared to the cheaper Squiers this thing blows them out of the water. My dad even said I was stupid for getting a Squier, then he played it and was blown away by the quality of this fine instrument. I cannot say enough good things about this instrument. If you are going to buy a p-bass, are looking for quality at a low price, this is what you need.

The bridge humbucker is pretty powerful and can be used for hard rock/metal tones with lots of distortion. The build quality is very good as well. Stays in tune for weeks!

Washburn D10 Series Acoustic Guitar (Natural) Review

(More customer reviews)I am writing this review from the perspective of an experienced amateur. I got my first acoustic guitar over 40 years ago; I've looked at and played numerous makes/models...and this guitar is one of the best I've found in the "affordable"(ie, less than $400-$500) range.
Why? For less than $300, one gets the following:
- solid spruce top
- mahogany back, sides, and neck
- rosewood fingerboard & bridge
- Grover-style sealed tuners
- Buzz Feiten Tuning System (amazing...see his web site for more info)
- nice bindings on the body & neck
- D'Addario strings
- a case (more on this)
I am able to pluck harmonics at almost every fret...rare on any guitar, no matter the price.
The Buzz Feiten Tuning System maintains pitch, most importantly, at the lower 3 frets.
My guitar may have been a "blem" as it has several minor cosmetic issues...but nothing that I couldn't accept...it plays & sounds so well!
With respect to the case: mine is not the "GC110" that Washburn lists on their website...it was a less-expensive, lower-quality one; honestly, it is not worthy of the guitar, so I will upgrade it soon. I am not sure why the switch was done. Again, not a deal breaker...but potential buyers should be aware.
Bottom line...If someone asked me to recommend a good quality, reasonably-priced, fine-sounding & fun-to-play acoustic guitar, the D-10 would be my first suggestion...and it comes with its own case (with the caveat that it might not be as good as the earlier models' cases).
I hope to upload some pictures...maybe even a video...over the next week or so.

Cort Earth 100DX Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar, High Gloss Natural Review

After doing some research, I was surprised to find out that many big name companies such as fender sub-contract out to cort. So basically, many big name guitars lower end products are cort guitars with a different brand logo on it. After finding this out, I decided to purchase the guitar. I am very happy with my purchase. The action is low, without the annoying buzzing that many cheaper guitars have. The guitar has a very nice tone and balance. It's obviously not a taylor or martin, but I recommend this to anyone interested in a good guitar without breaking the bank. Just buy a good set of strings and you're good to go.

Fender CJ-290 SCE Jumbo Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Natural Review

(More customer reviews)I recently purchased the Fender® CD290SCE - Natural 6-string Jumbo Cutaway Acoustic/Electric Guitar. I received it on 19th March 2010.
I am a Jazz Guitarist and prefer to do my performances on an acoustic/electric guitar. The reason is that I prefer the natural wood sound of a guitar as opposed to an electric sound.
I have owned many expensive brand names in the Jumbo Electric/Acoustic arena. While most of them were excellent in terms of craftsmanship, I was never completely satisfied with such attributes as playability and low action. I always seem to have issues with sharp fret wires, or high fingerboard action particularly from the 5th fret upwards. More often than not I either was forced to grind down the bone saddle, do trust rod adjustments or experiment with different string gauges and sometimes have to tolerate fret buzzes. The prices of these guitars made in China ranged from US$1,000.00 to US$ 2,500.00.
I have always had great respect for Fender Company particularly with their electric guitars. However I was not very familiar with the quality of their acoustics. I decided to take a chance and buy the Fender® CD290SCE - Natural 6-string Jumbo Cutaway Acoustic/Electric Guitar purely on the good reputation Fender Company as a long standing guitar manufacturer.
It is my personal humble opinion that many high priced brand names in jumbo acoustics pale in comparison to this Fender Jumbo.
The fingerboard action and playability out of the box are second to none. The clarity and projection unplugged is superb. I have not yet played it through an amplifier. But given how it sounds unamplified is an indication how well it will sound plugged in. Although this is jumbo, the guitar is very light weight and very comfortable to hold especially for long periods. I have found no factory defects in the craftsmanship. I never thought that a solid spruce top sitting on top of a maple body could generate such robust basses , mid's and hi's
I think that this great guitar ought to be sold with a hard shell case. Mine came in a cardboard box. I have to now source a hard shell case which this fine instrument deserves.
I presently own several expensive acoustics, but I have placed this Fender® CD290SCE at the head of the class. The voices that come out of this fender jumbo acoustic are simply angelic so I have named the guitar "The Angel". My fellow guitarists' minds are totally blown away with the projection and tonal quality of this affordably priced guitar.
I highly recommend it to any professional guitarist.
Folks at Fender, I congratulate you for such a fine craftsmanship in this CD290SCE jumbo acoustic/electric.

Squier by Fender Classic Vibe Stratocaster 60s, 3 Tone Sunburst Review

(More customer reviews)I already love the Classic Vibe Series from Squier. I already have the Custom Tele and love the quality, feel and sound of the guitar. This is a great guitar with a unique sound... here's why...
The Build
This guitar is a quality built guitar. 2 Pieces of Alder with amazing quality to the Sunburst finish. It is a gorgeous guitar body. The neck is a thin C-shape with a unique design. It is glossy and thinner than the C-Shaped Mexican Strat Necks or the US Strat Necks. The medium-jumbo frets on the rosewood neck have no sharp edges and seem perfectly installed. The guitar came in the box, perfectly set up, although I needed to set the pickup heights a little differently and change the intonation a little with the bridge saddles. (This should be expected on almost any guitar.) There were a few dinks on the fretboard from the factory, but nothing that affects play at all.
The Hardware
The Tuners are vintage tuners that I have seen on some Us Strats and even the Kenny Wayne Signature Mexican Strat. They stay in tune perfectly well and seem like a great quality. The Bridge and saddles seem to be a good quality. The trem has a zinc trem block that seems less than the quality that I would want. I'm not sure why they don't have a higher quality stainless block.
The Electronics
The Pickups are Alnico and sound great. (remember that the stock Fender Bullet Strings are garbage and need to be changed.) Throw some decent strings on it and you will find that the pickups are fantastic. Tons of character from the notch settings. You get great Strat Spank and quack with a great sound. What surprises me in a huge way is the sustain. This guitar sustains way better than ANY Strat US or MExican that I have ever tried. (I assume that this is a combination of the quality build, the Hardware and the Electronics.)
The Sound
This guitar has a fantastic unique sound. Playing through several amps, this guitar sounded high quality through all of them. You will not find any Squier that has this kind of quality sound and sustain. Not even the Mexican Made Strats have this great sound. The older MIM strats all have ceramic pickups that are no good. This strat has high quality ALNICO pickups.
The Feel
The neck is thin, and if you like a thin neck this guitar feels amazing. I love the feel of this guitar. If you blindfolded me, I might pick the feel of this guitar over any strat that I have ever played.
Overall
You won't find a Strat with such a high quality and interesting sound as good for this price anywhere. If you like the sound and feel, you should feel lucky to find a guitar for this price. I could play this onstage or with any amp and be happy with the sound and sustain.
My guess about this guitar is that they had the China Squier factory use top quality parts and has developed a better quality control system to make these guitars more consistently good.
I love these guitars. Mine is easily becoming my favorite strat to hear, feel and play.
