(More customer reviews)The photo makes it seem like you can see the grain through the finish, however it is an opaque finish that is more yellow than the photo. It also weighed a ton. Three stars is an average rating and not a bad rating. I have other Squire telecasters so I have nothing against the name.
The neck felt ok and the finish was fine. I didn't search hard for flaws before sending it back, but I didn't see any glaring flaws either. My main issues were the extreme weight and the discrepancy between the finish in the product photo and the actual guitar.
