Gretsch Guitars G5122 Double Cutaway Electromatic Hollowbody Electric Guitar Walnut Stain
Average Reviews:

What a versatile guitar!
It does possess that Gretsch sound. Has the clarity to be a ringing 'And Your Birds Can Sing,' or 'Crossroads' with equal aplomb.
Comes with the standard rebellious Gretsch knob layout - three volume, including a master and one tone.
The cost cutting efforts are not hidden. Open tuners. The base of the floating bridge is rosewood but I would question the quality of the wood used.
The Bigsby tailpiece, while wonderful to use is fiendishly trying when you restring. Until you get used to it, that is. A pre-bend in the ball end of the string goes a long way to easing the task. Bigsby must have been a saddist.
The capacitor in the tone circuit is too restricted, the rolloff is intense.
The pluses?
They are many.
Tone as I mentioned.
The guitar is very light, a full hollowbody, not a semi hollow body.
Thick binding.
A flat neck - or at least it feels flat. A look at the spec sheet shows there is a tapering radius applied.
Well done!
Relatively inexpensive - I paid $630 out the door.
Do yourself a favor an affix the bridge to the body. If comfortable, pin it or in my case, I used violin bow rosin to create more friction and keep the bridge in place.
I bought it about a month ago and have not put it down. My other guitars are getting suspicious.

Hartke AC150 Acoustic Guitar 4x5 Amplifier, 150 Watts Review

Hartke AC150 Acoustic Guitar 4x5 Amplifier, 150 Watts
Average Reviews:

I have to admit that I was skeptical at first. However, after the first time I
used it at a performance, that skepticism faded. I use this amp for solo bar and
club gigs. The sound is so crisp and clean that it is almost as if I somehow just
increased the volume on my acoustic guitar.
The Mic input is very handy, making this the only piece necessary for a small/medium
gig. As someone who likes to add a bit of reverb to the vocals, the effects library
is also quite nice.
Something else worthy of note...the fact that this piece can be cocked back to face
upward on an angle makes a world of difference, allowing the sound to travel upward
so that it is not muted by peoples' feet. By which I mean, it is not always
necessary to elevate the amp to be sure the sound is distributed correctly.

Tried it out side by side with a Markbass cmd102p and a Genz Benz Shuttle 600 2x10. Amazing lows with articulate mids and highs sum this wee beastie up well. The tweeter is hissy but adjustable and frankly the only issue I have. I am no fan of most neo cabs but this is an exception. The GB is very cool but is rear ported and I lose some definition on the low end with it and it is twice the price. The tube section of the GB is fine but I did not miss it one bit compared to the GK head. The Markbass head is great by itself but the speakers are blurry on the bottom and their tweet hisses too. The VPF and VLF controlls on the Mark are killer tools if used right. Yet again the Mark is twice as much. The Mark head is a bit easier to dial in my sound but after a few extra minutes with the GK I was in heaven with the tone, every bit as thick and rich as the Mark. Between me and my bass buds we cover the gambit in styles and all agree the GK is almost to good to be true. Loud enough by itself to hang with a heavy hitting drummer and two guitards :) At half the price and lightest in the class it's a no brainer (which fits me).

Luna 23 Inch Dolphin Concert Ukulele Review

Luna 23 Inch Dolphin Concert Ukulele
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am an intermediate musician in general, but new to the world of ukuleles, so take this review for what it's worth. :) I am considering buying a ukulele in about this price range, to which end I spent a couple of hours playing this model of Luna in a local music store. I got pretty attached to it, my hand liked it, and it made me want more. In quality and overall value I would definitely compare it with other ukuleles in the same price range. The online price is usually about $50 less than at a brick-and-mortar store, where it can go for up to $299. The amazing design and also the electronics are a big plus. The tone and intonation are fine by me, and I'm very picky about that. I would agree with the previous review that the tone of the comparable Lanikai, the CK-C, is better in the sense of being more "idiomatic" to the ukulele, though I personally found the tone of this to be perfectly satisfactory. In all, I would recommend that there is no substitute for going to different stores and trying various brands and models out for yourself as opposed to buying any instrument purely based on someone else's impression. IMHO if you fall in love with this one, you will not be disappointed. Just my 2 cents. Happy ukeing!

Godin Multiac Guitar (Jazz, Lightburst Flame HG) Review

Godin Multiac Guitar (Jazz, Lightburst Flame HG)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Guitar is nice. I put new strings on it and tweeked it a little and it plays and sounds incredible.
My problem is that I own several high end 3 voice guitars. All of them have the magnetic and the piezo pickup on a TRS cable. This one has a separate cable for each so I can't change guitars (to the Multiac Jazz) without changing cables. it's annoying.
Now my real complaint! Godin doesn't answer their emails. I have emailed [...] 3 times to tell them that I love the guitar but can they give me info so that I can make this guitar work on my system. They don't write!!! They don't say we're looking at solutions or we don't think we can help you or anything at all. I own 3 Godin guitars and have owned a couple others that I sold.
If your Godin guitar works for you when you get it (mine always have) you're fine. If you need help or a response fogetaboudit. You'll never hear from them.
I guess this was my last Godin. What a shame. for a mid priced guitar I really liked the company. I could have one of my techs look at it but the principle of it all... It takes all of the joy out of getting a new guitar.

Got this for my son to take guitar lessons. Did have to replace cord to amp, but other than that it works great. He has been using it since December 2010 and hasn't had any other issues with it. Would recommend to others that just starting out. but keep in mind, the guitar is on the heavy side.

Loved it, the minute I plugged it in.This is the amp I've been waiting for, from the warmth of the tube preamp,to the brightest slap&pop, and everything in between.I've been in cover bands for 30plus yrs and this amp will do anything I want it to. Simple controls & setup, If you can't find "your sound" here, maybe you should try playing guitar instead. I can't say enough about it so far, only had it about a week. More than enough power! I've played much more expensive rigs, and I think this one holds it's own with any of them. You could pay twice as much for an Ampeg! But why? It's not just me, my band mates were "blown away"too. The bottom end with the 4x10 is amazing. Buy it, you won't be sorry

Taylor 200-Series 214ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar Review

Taylor 200-Series 214ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've owned numerous guitars in the past (Alvarez, Blueridge, Epiphone, Larrivee, Martin, Ovation, Seagull, etc.) and currently own a Martin D-41 Special. I purchased the Taylor 214CE because I wanted something quite different than my Martin sound (which is extraordinary by the way)...
I went to Guitar Center and played the guitars and was really impressed with the chimey, shimmering sound of the 214CE, and the smaller more comfortable size vs. my dreadnoughts. In some respects it sounded similar to the Gibson Songwriter Deluxe... very balanced sound across the strings.
The fit and finish was very nice... The thin neck makes playing this a breeze. For those people who are purists and needing to only buy solid wood guitars, you can do so for another $500 - 600, but the 214CE had the sound I was looking for... I find myself picking it up more than my Martin.... it is fun and easy to play...
Another reviewer was obviously unaware that the majority of the sound resonance comes from the soundboard (i.e. top) of the guitar.... this 214CE will continue to "open up" with play.
I highly recommend this guitar to others.

The 214ce will change your expectations about what a serious entry-level instrument can embody. Versatility plays front and center on this rosewood laminate, between the Grand Auditorium body, cutaway and plug-in-and-play readiness of Taylor's ES-T pickup.

The Taylor 200 Series The 200 Series redefines what a mid-priced guitar can be. A satin, solid Sitka spruce top meets gorgeous Indian rosewood laminate back and sides, delivering the quality sound and feel you'd expect from a Taylor. Plug in with the optional Taylor electronics and take your performance to the stage with confidence.
Sitka Spruce Top Sitka Spruce (Picea sitchensis) grows in a coastal "pocket" from Northern California to Alaska. This dense, straight-grained wood has the highest strength and elasticity-to-weight ratio among available tonewoods, an attribute that makes it an ideal material not only for our soundboards, but for our internal bracing, as well. Sitka produces a slightly brighter tone than does Engelmann.
Indian Rosewood Back/Sides Indian Rosewood (Dalbergia latifolia) is coveted by players and guitar builders alike for its dark, luxurious coloration, which ranges from brown to purple to rose to black, and for tonal characteristics that include a strong bass response and long sustain. It remains the most popular tonewood used in the making of high-quality acoustic guitars.
Grand Auditorium Body Shape The Grand Auditorium was the first guitar shape designed from scratch by Bob Taylor. It was unveiled to commemorate the company's 20th Anniversary in 1994, and since then it has more than lived up to its promise. Although the GA has the width and depth of a Dreadnought, its narrower waist gives it the appearance of a smaller instrument, adds treble "zing" across the guitar's tonal spectrum, sharpens the definition of individual notes, and also enables it to rest comfortably in the lap. Because we remove mass from the width of the GA's braces, the guitar top moves faster, resulting in a snappy, bell-like tone. The GA, available as a 6- or 12-sting, is designed to be a strong fingerpicking guitar that also can handle medium strumming, and is exceptionally versatile.
Venetian CutawayThe cutaway allows access to the upper frets. Many players moving to acoustic guitars grew accustomed to the cutaways on their electric guitars. Others simply like the freedom of movement into the upper register that a cutaway allows. Nowadays, cutaways are favored as much for their decorative appeal as for their function. The Venetian cutaway is known for its soft, round lines. The sloping peak of the cutaway will vary depending on the shape of the guitar. Grand Concerts and Grand Auditoriums have a steeper slope, while Dreadnoughts and Jumbos are a bit flatter.
ES-T Pickup Inspired by Taylor's Expression System technology, the Expression System Transducer, or ES-T, is a single-source, under-saddle transducer with individual elements for each string. (The ES-T was originally called the ES Element, but the name was changed to avoid confusion with another product.) The ES-T has an onboard preamp and the same active controls found on the full Expression System. Featuring a custom-voiced EQ and dynamic response, the system is powered by a 9-volt battery, with a battery life LED power indicator (which is lit when the battery is being used). The pickup also has a Phase switch for feedback control, which is located on the preamp board inside the soundhole.
Chrome-Plate Tuners Taylor Tuners continue the industry-leading 18:1 gear ratio that they've been using, yet yield even greater precision with the help of a manufacturing process that employs the same gear-cutting machines used by Swiss watchmakers. The more precisely-machined gears virtually eliminate the slight "slop", or slack, typical among tuners, which makes it even easier for Taylor owners to get--and stay--in tune. Taylor Tuners also feature an elegant aesthetic touch, with the Taylor logo cleanly etched on the back.

Yamaha CPX500 Acoustic Electric Guitar, Old Violin Sunburst Review

This is a great guitar. Well made and with quality materials and comes with metal "strings". Attractive looking...the sound hole has a nice inlay. The guitar comes conveniently with its own built in tuner so you can make a quick check before each play. Nice sounding with deep rich lower notes. I also have the APX500 and this (CPX500) definitely has a better sound in the lower range than the APX. The CPX is a good guitar for serious beginners too. It's nice sound encourages play. Yamaha makes two cases for this a cheaper one, GA01 and the better GA37. The guitar fits snugly in the GA37 and together, they are both quite heavy. The GA01 is quite light understandably since it is much less expensive.

Schecter Hellcat VI Electric Guitar (3-Tone Sunburst) Review

Schecter Hellcat VI Electric Guitar (3-Tone Sunburst)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This instrument is not a standard guitar, nor is it a baritone-range instrument. It is a six-string short-scale bass in the same tradition as the Fender Bass VI. It's designed to be tuned E to e, like a 'normal' guitar, but one octave lower. In other words the bottom four strings (EADG) are the same as on a normal four-string bass. What makes this instrument different are the addition of high b and high e strings that extend the range of the bass considerably higher. This was conceived as an instrument that guitarists would take to quite naturally; same number of strings, same tuning, scale length is only about 6" longer than most guitars, and you can still play full chords on it, all one octave deeper.
The Schecter Hellcat itself has a good deal of old-school mojo. The three mini-humbuckers really offer a ton of sound options, and you can easily nail the surf-rock sound and launch right into Some Jack Bruce rifffage with the flick of a switch. It's very solidly built, as with nearly every Schecter instrument I've ever handled. Fit and finish are consistent, if not better, than you'd expect at this price. Playability was excellent out of the box, and only required a few very minor tweaks to suit my own peculiar playing style. I'd guess it could easily become an heirloom piece, and I wouldn't be surprised if these are being sold as 'vintage' instruments in thirty years.
An interesting side note: there is exactly one set of flatwound strings being produced for this instrument; if that's what you want, Google "LaBella flatwound short scale six string bass." They run about $45; any set of strings for a bass as uncommon as this one are going to be pricey, so you won't be changing 'em every week.
If you've already done some research on Bass VI-style instruments, and you're looking to get your first, this is really you're only affordable option. They're rare, and don't often pop up used; when they do, it won't be a favorable price for those beginning on this instrument. On the plus side, this means if you don't care for it, resale value is quite high; you won't lose much on the deal. Usually, this instrument comes with a custom-sized hardshell case, which takes some of the sting out of the price tag.
The short version: If you're looking at this kind of instrument for the first time, then this is the one you want. Get it now!

Luna Steel Magnolia Resonator Review

Luna Steel Magnolia Resonator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Been playing for 48 years, many of them as a semi-professional. Own 4 high end acoustics (Santa Cruz and Huss+Dalton). Bought this guitar on a whim and hope that it would be a fun, very inexpensive new sound to play around with. So, let me tell you:
This Luna Stell Magnolia plays as well as any of my guitars in terms of playability ;i.e., the neck is superb for this price range. The guitar was perfectly set up out of the shipping box (beware - a case is not included; too bad). Unplugged, the guitar sounds pretty bad, which I expected due to its shallow depth. However, plugged in, it is truly wonderful and surpasses all expectations. Through a Fender Princeton Reverb, it has a very good acoustic tone. And, through a Fishman Loudbox 100, it also sounds great, a somewhat different acoustic sound. The Steel Magnolia sounds almost as good as a National Resoelectric which sells for 3 X's the price.
So, if you are a finger picking style guitarist, you can't go wrong. The pick ups are truly very solid sounding.I would not advise getting it as a strumming instrument and I don't think it is well suited for slide. All in all, a very fun guitar and well made. You can't go wrong for this price.

Fender Classic Player Jaguar Special Electric Guitar Candy Apple Red Review

Fender Classic Player Jaguar Special Electric Guitar Candy Apple Red
Average Reviews:

I was a little apprehensive about the CP Jaguar as I wasn't sure about the Made in Mexico quality; I'd had a Strat which was fairly poor in finish and quality which made me a little leery.
I needn't have worried. The Jaguar is simply as good as any guitar I have owned [Gibsons, Fenders, Gretsches, you name it...) and the fit and finish is as high as it could possibly be. I am also thrilled at the sheer weight of the thing; it weighs a ton and subsequently rings like a bell and sustains well beyond what one might expect in a Jaguar.
The new bridge and tremelo setup works very, very well. It stays in tune ~!~ and the intonation on my factory setup modell was spot-on. The updated, hotter pickups works very well and the tone range is particularly wide with my Fender Blues Jr III amp.
All in all I can wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend the Class Player Jaguar. I'm so pleased with mine that I placed an order for the Jazzmaster too. It's *that* impressive.

Overall the shipping was great as to be expected from Amazon! The guitar was also ready to play right out of the box with just a few strings needing to be tuned. Maybe I just got lucky. Everything looks and feels great. The EMG's however arent as great as I thought they would be but this to be expected also since they are not active. Maybe I am just picky though! All in all this guitar is great for the beginner and pro alike! Especially for the price. I also want to mention I had first bought this guitar from "Musicians Friend". Big mistake, I usually get all of my music equipment from them and have for some time, however I am tired of them listing stuff that isn't in stock. After about a week I asked why it hasn't even been shipped yet and got some robotic reply. Anyways my fault for not going to Amazon first, a mistake I don't plan on making again!

Schecter Hellraiser C-1 Electric Guitar (Gloss White) Review

Schecter Hellraiser C-1 Electric Guitar (Gloss White)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This guitar is great! I played guitar for 17 years and I tried many brands and models, and I can tell you that this one is something special. First of all, it is a beautiful instrument with a wonderful finish (especially for a korean guitar that are very variable on that point of view) it is very pretty and well designed.
It is important to know that I don't personally much like mahogany guitars neither rosewood fingerboards (I'm a Fender american stratocaster maple neck and ash body fan and owner) but this guitar changed my mind about both woods. The mahogany body is surprisingly light and the neck is fast and pleases the hand.
Now the pickups : Well here is the only black spot. These active EMGs and very nice and not as typed as much EMGs (usually I don't like this brand much, DiMarzio got my heart here). They are pretty versatile especially due to the coiltap system, but they are not as silent as told... These simply doesn't like computers and power supplies that can cause a lot of hum, this can be stressful sometimes. Except that, they are very nice, work well with the mahogany body (and neck) and don't make much noise with a guitar combo.
The playability is wonderful, great access to the 24 frets, the neck is just right pretty similar to my stratocaster's neck.
Overall, this is a light, very playable, great looking, nice sounding cheap guitar. Try it, it's worthy.
