I've had this amp for quite a while now. I love the clean sound, which often seems a little dark, but I have not been too satisfied with the distortion.
The only problem I have with this amp is that when I took it out of the box, one of the silver buttons by the handle was loose and I had to take it off to prevent rattling when the amp was turned up.
What I've learned with this amp is that it's true what many people tell you about tube amps: they shine best at high volumes, and that is definitely true with the Rebel 30.
Yesterday I got the amp to a nice venue and cranked it. I got a beautiful distortion sound for playing "Optimistic" by Radiohead/and other alt rock stuff, as well as some very smooth jazzy tones.
I am sure I haven't fully tapped this amps' potential. The settings listed in the manual will give you some good ideas.
Playing my Gibson Les Paul Traditional through a MXR Carbon Copy delay into the Egnater is straight up luscious. Oh yes.
The FX loop is fantastic, especially if you have a digital effects unit. Also, just know that the reverb on this amp is digital, which sounds great, but I understand some people prefer the analogue reverb of a Fender or other amp.
If you're looking for something versatile and can play the amp loud, you will probably have hours of enjoyment with this amp. If you are looking for more of a practice amp a Pignose is actually pretty good, and I've been noticing that Jeff Beck (awesome guitarist) has been rocking a Fender Pro Junior (about $350.00)at shows even.
I hope this review is somewhat helpful.
