Schecter Hellraiser Solo-6 Electric Guitar (Gloss White) Review

Schecter Hellraiser Solo-6 Electric Guitar (Gloss White)

I've owned this guitar for 6 months and I absolutely love it. I had played it at guitar center prior to buying, which I recommend you do before purchasing any guitar online. Guitar feel is always a very personal thing, so play before you buy... OK, first off this is a beautiful guitar. I bought the white one because it was on sale at the time, but I've seen all three colors and they all look stunning in person. The abalone inlays on the neck and around the body are unexpected on a guitar in the price range and lend a classy, yet gothic look to the mix. Locking tuners are also not too common on a $750 guitar. Schecter's curvy single cutaway design is my favorite compared to say PRS, ESP or even Gibson. This guitar simply has a solid, quality fit and finish; with no flaws to be found and it played great right out of the box. No set up was needed. The EMG pickups are optimized for high gain music styles- I play alot of classic rock and metal and EMG has the perfect tone for those. Yet the HR Solo 6 also has a very bright tone on a clean amp channel and the single coil tapping on both pickups adds even more versatility. Check out the many reviews on YouTube for more about the variable tones and to hear it for yourself. Bottom line; this guitar looks, feels and sounds like it should cost twice what it does... and I would buy the Solo 6 HR again without hesitation and recommend it to anyone looking for a quality rock guitar that is worth far more than its price. Well done Schecter!

I just got this guitar yesterday. I own an Ibanez Prestige and a Gibson Les Paul.
Both awesome guitars (obviously).
So I decided to buy a decent less expensive guitar to set of for strictly Drop C tuning.
I got more than I bargained for!
Withe the Duncans and a neck that blew me away. And you want sustain??? This guitar has
almost as much as my Paul.
Cam set up perfectly from factory.
I am sold! Schecter makes a very nice quality guitar at a price you would have a tough time
matching (in this price range)

Fit, finish, adjustable EQ, EMG active creates a snappy tight little bass. The tone, ( adjustable) is awesome . Why I can buy a Schecter for over 60% off is beyond me, not the price which for a very different looking and playing professional bass guitar is great. Lovin' Mine!

I have an extensive guitar collection.
I bought this on a whim not knowing what to expect.
The guitar really looks to be made well.
I must say that this guitar rivals any of my Gibson and Fender electrics.
It has great action (Quick).
The strings are right on the board; No buzzing and you can bend notes easily.
The pickups capture crisp tones with lots of range and variation.
It's a little heavy but thats OK; a good strap will take care of that.
It doesn't come with a case so you may need a gig bag or an after market hard shell.
I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone.

Schecter Hellraiser C-8 Electric Guitar (Black Cherry) Review

Schecter Hellraiser C-8 Electric Guitar (Black Cherry)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the first 8-string guitar (actually the second... see below for an explanation) I have owned, so I was not exactly sure how it would feel with the longer scale. I have played 7-strings for years, so I was already accustomed to a wider neck, but this is a monster. If you are coming from a 6-string, this might give you a bit of a problem for a while, as the neck is considerably wider than you will find on your standard guitar, and the scale is longer. Once you get used to the scale and the neck width, you will be in love.
Scale forms are more logical on the 8-string than the 7-string, as you are dealing with an even number of strings again. I found modal and scalar playing to be more intuitive with the move from 7 to 8 strings than from 6 to 7, because of the even number of strings. If you play your scales and modes in three-finger box configurations, you will find the 8-string guitar to be very easy to master.
The finish on this guitar is beautiful and the quilt is amazing. I cannot say enough about how great this guitar looks in person, as it is a lot better than expected. Many times you will see a picture of an instrument on the instrument and the one you end up with doesn't look as good, as they take pictures of the best looking example. This is not the case here. This guitar is absolutely beautiful. I also have a Schecter Damien Elite-8 Eight String Electric Guitar - Crimson Red and they both have the same wood and finish.
I bought this guitar because the Damien Elite 8 that I bought first has a bolt-on neck that makes it very difficult to play in the higher register. You will not have any problems with this guitar, as the contour of the neck-through design is very comfortable and feels wonderful.
If you are not going to play leads, the Schecter Damien Elite-8 Eight String Electric Guitar - Crimson Red would be a fine choice, as it costs a couple of hundred dollars less, but this is the ONLY way to go if you are playing leads.

I was searching for an affordable bass guitar that "had the look" and more so THE sound and this was the best pick.
I normally depend on customer reviews before making a purchase; there was none for this item and am i glad i took a chance and bought this one. I bought it a lil over a year ago and have had NO regrets since.
It has a PERFECT finish; It is very sexy and smooth. Just by looking, feeling and playing this bass one word comes to mind - Q.U.A.L.I.T.Y!!!..I was cautioned against buying a guitar online, but with this you won't be sorry.
I am a female with this 6 string bass guitar, ofcourse it makes me look good. When am practising at nights at home i get no complaints from neighbours, even though when am playing i "tend not to use the low volume" (if you know what am saying); they love it too. I honestly gave this item 5 stars because i can't honestly find a fault with it. So, if you are looking for an affordable bass guitar you can't loose out on buying this, if you do then i guess you are just picky.
Percfect bass, get one!

Schecter Corsair with Bigsby Electric Guitar (Gloss Walnut) Review

I've long wanted an ES-335, but I just don't play enough to justify spending $3000 on a guitar when I have a perfectly adequate guitar already (a cheap Ibanez). But one of these Schecter Corsairs showed up locally on Craigslist for $400, and I bought it. What a fantastic guitar for the money! Really easy to play, great sound, decently well put together, I really love it. So if you're looking for a budget semi-hollow, definitely try one of these out.

Schecter C-4 Custom Bass Guitar (Aged Black) Review

Schecter C-4 Custom Bass Guitar (Aged Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For those interested in upgrading from a beginner bass or looking for a back-up that isn't a bank breaker, you should take a good look at the Schecter C-4. First off, don't let the picture fool you; that is a C-5. The C-4 is a 4 string bass. I bought mine as an upgrade from a DeArmond Pilot Plus. The Pilot's electronics were very noisy and I needed something quieter to record with. This bass was exactly what I needed. After a month, here are my impressions:
1) It's a very pretty instrument. You can't see the binding very well in the picture, but it goes all around the the top of the body, up the neck and around the headstock. It's an antique ivory color which I think goes great with the matte black finish on the rest of the guitar.
2)It's very comfortable. Because of the long upper horn it has much better balance than a lot of basses (the headstock of my friend's Thunderbird bass always heads toward the floor if you don't hang on - that doesn't happen with the C-4). The top of the body is carved so, although it's not super rounded, I don't have a problem with the edge digging into my forearm and the back is scalloped so it fit's nicely against my hip. The neck is multi-laminated maple and walnut, also with a satin finish, and isn't too big making it playable for extended periods.
3)The set up right out the box was very good. I play guitar as well and am always tweaking action and intonation (especially when trying different string gauges) so I'm sure I'll end up making some adjustments at some point, but so far all I've done is set the action more to my liking via the bridge; I haven't had to mess with the truss rod at all.
4)I mentioned the electronics earlier and these deliver. The pups are EMG 35HZ passive pick-ups but you will still need a 9 volt battery as the eq is active. They are very low noise and very punchy even though you can adjust the lows and the highs separately. When I drop the treble out they just sound muddy but why would I want to do that? This bass has that nice jazz/progressive sound. If you're looking for a thumpy, bottomy sound that will get lost in the background, maybe this bass isn't for you. If you crank the treble you get in-your-face buzzy punk but if you roll it off just a little you can fit in with just about any contemporary style of music.
Keep in mind that this is a production model, not custom as the name would imply, but it has a lot of features of a much higher end and more expensive instrument. The bridge allows you to end string or through-body string. The pick-ups have pretty good output. The body of the bass is mahogany (even though you can't see it) giving it nice sustain. All in all, you get a lot of instrument for under $400.

I have this guitar for over 8 months and I have not had any problems with it. This is very well-made guitar. I see no flaws in the beautiful finish. The set up was perfect out of the box with good action. The EMG pick ups are very hot and perfect for metal. The tuners are Schecter locking tuners on my guitar which stays in tune all the time. Overall this is an outstanding guitar and beautiful Guitar.

I bought one of these guitars about 1/2 a year ago.from go it was great. all the electronics work great and all the hardware is really good. the volume doesnt go down with the coil tap. the only problem i had was the duncan "designed" pickups are a little muddy but i swapped them out for better, active pickups they are a EMG 81/81 combo. i dont know what you were talkin about in the other reveiw the only thing i could say is you got a bad one.

Schecter Omen 6 Electric Guitar- Red Review

Schecter Omen 6 Electric Guitar- Red
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
While not the color I was yearning for (I like the white), the price being almost $100 less than what it is in stores locally really twisted my arm. The intonation is nearly perfect, shouldn't take too much adjustment to get going, as well as the action being just about perfect out of the box. Having an injury a few years ago I'm sensitive to ergonomics and this is much more comfortable to play than my previous guitar and the basswood body's lightness is a feature (it really is light) and the finish came free of any blemish.
The pickups sound pretty average to my ear, but that is to be expected on an entry level guitar. While some will obsess over what woods create the best tones and neck through aids sustain I'll be gladly spending the money I saved on a set of awesome pickups (thinking Seymour-Duncan P-Rails with some coil splitting) and a copy of Guitar Rig 4.

Schecter Hellraiser Custom Electric Guitar - Vampyre Red Satin Review

Schecter Hellraiser Custom Electric Guitar - Vampyre Red Satin
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Got this guitar on a Gold Box deal that I just couldn't pass up. Received it a few days ago, shipping and packaging were good, all from the factory. The guitar itself is BEAUTIFUL! I really like the satin finish on this compared to the high gloss of the regular Hellraiser C-1, but that is just personal preference. The guitar is great, fit finish are perfect, and it feels awesome in your hands. BUT, that is when I noticed that my volume knobs would not push/pull. I thought that they may just be stuck, but they should move pretty easily. I searched the internet and could not find one bit of information on this particular model ('Hellraiser Custom' in Vampyre Red exclusive to Amazon). The closest you will find is for the Hellraiser C-1, and it is listed as having push/pull knobs. I emailed Schecter and a couple days later I received a response which stated that the description on Amazon is incorrect and that this model from Amazon does NOT have the push/pull knobs to change the pick ups from double to single. Amazon actually took the description from the C-1 and used it for this guitar (as is obvious regading the abalone inlay which is absent on this guitar as well).
Now, I still gave this guitar a 5 star rating because the guitar itself is great and it is not Schecter's fault that Amazon did not describe the guitar accurately. That being said, I don't think that Amazon should have this guitar priced the same as the C-1 when it lacks some of the features of that guitar; but that is their perogitive since it is exclusive to them (and where do they get that ridiculous MSRP from???). Also, the standard Hellraiser C-1 has the abalone inlay around the edge of the body and head which this model does not. Personally, I think it looks better without it (at least in the satin finish; I do think that the abalone looks awesome on the high gloss finish of the C-1), but that should also lower the price of this guitar. Also, the pick ups on the C-1 are updated versions of the pick ups on this guitar. So, paying what I did on a Gold Box deal, I am not that upset about the mistaken features or missing abalone (I knew that the abalone would not be there because of the photos even though the description states it), but it would have been nice to know. If I had paid full price for this guitar (which is the same as the standard C-1 on Amazon), I would have been very upset and the guitar would have gone back to Amazon. If you are debating between this and the C-1, know that at regular price, you are getting more guitar on the C-1 than on this model for the same amount of money.
As this model is exclusive to Amazon, there was no way to compare this to the Schecter models in the local guitar store (standard Hellraiser C-1), so that was a bummer. As far as comparison goes, this guitar color is lighter than that of the cherry color of the C-1 and of course has the satin finish. As I stated, I really prefer the look of the satin finish, but the C-1 is also a gorgeous guitar! If you can, visit your local guitar shop and pick up the C-1. It will give you a feel for this guitar. Only difference will be the pick ups, no push/pull knob control, and finish. It sucks to be the guinea pig here as there were no reviews prior to my purchasing this, but hopefully what I have shared with you will help you find the guitar you are looking for!
***UPDATE 1/28/11***
Amazon has now fixed the description on this guitar to more accurately reflect what it has. They also lowered the price from $750 to $395! That is a steal for this guitar!

Schecter C-7 Standard Electric Guitar - Black Review

Schecter C-7 Standard Electric Guitar - Black

Get this guitar, plain and simple. For the money you pay you couldn't possibly find a better deal. The build quality is top of the line, you can feel the quality oozing out of it just by holding it. It's been an incredibly reliable instrument for me. It stays in tune really well without the trouble of a finicky and fragile floyd rose. The duncan pickups deliver a clean sound with lots of power. Having that seventh string for the extra range is very nice, especially if you want to play some of the more extreme forms of metal. The body and paintjob are truly beautiful in person. My only complaint is that it doesn't even come with a gear bag, I went ahead and got a nice hardcase for it. If you get a hardcase make sure it's big enough to accommodate the wider neck due to the seventh string.

Godin LG P90 Solid Body Electric Guitar (Trans Black Flame) Review

Godin LG P90 Solid Body Electric Guitar (Trans Black Flame)

I got this guitar through one of a kind deal. Not sure why but sometimes Amazon will have crazy deals on guitars. I got the guitar for very cheap (over 60% off) via Amazon.
The guitar is made of solid wood. Maple flame grains really adds to the style of the guitar. I get a lot of complement on how nice the guitar looks. The only gripe about the looks is that the headstock feels and looks a bit cheap, although I like the styling.
Sound-wise. I run the guitar through a Digitech RP-500 multi-effect pedals to a set of Bose L1 PAs. At home, I usually run it through my headphones (again using the Digitech RP-500). The output is very high, and you can get nice, glassy sound via the two Seymour Duncan P90s on the guitar. The guitar is pretty heavy so make sure that you use a comfortable strap (e.g., wider around the shoulder contact point).
It comes with a nicely-padded gig bag with Godin label. The gig-bag has a lot of pockets for extra strings, tuner, 1/4 inch cables, etc.

Pros: This is a fabulous playing guitar. I'm a classical guitar player so I don't really know too much about tone and stuff but I've had no complaints with it. I record in logic studio and this guitar has been great. It's pretty too... reminds me of my old girlfriend.
Cons: It is really heavy... like heavier than a bass guitar. If you don't mind a workout then by all means. I don't have the worlds greatest back and it really hasn't bothered me too much.
I love this guitar but if I was doing it over again I'd get a lighter one. Although I got this one for a great price... so maybe not.

Schecter's C-1 perfectly marries pro features and affordability. And of course wicked good looks--this model's gloss white finish and black binding make for a striking instrument, and it also comes armed with Schecter's exclusive Seymour Duncan Designed HB-105 Active pickups, to deliver precise attack, punchy tone, and sonic clarity for today's metal guitarists.

Built for Tone, With Looks to Match The C-1 features a mahogany body to provide smooth, detailed sound, a bolt-on mahogany neck, and a rosewood fretboard with 24 jumbo frets (Schecter's "Ultra Access" cutaway ensures you'll be able to hit those high notes).
And of course there's looks--the gloss white finish shows off the axe's shape, and black chrome hardware completes the package.
Duncan Designed Active Pickups The C-1 boasts two ultra-hot Duncan-designed HB-105 pickups. These are the Duncan Designed version of the super-popular Seymour Duncan Blackouts active humbuckers, and much like their predecessor, are a 9-volt active humbucker well-suited for aggressive playing styles. Whether you're banging out old-school thrash metal or straight-up garage rock, these pickups deliver high-output, clear sound with more highs and lows, and less hum.
Each pickup gets a volume knob, and they share a tone knob. The 3-way switch lets you dial in a neck or bridge sound.
Graph Tech "Tusq" Nut The precision Tusq nut is made with Graph Tech's "man made ivory," which couples the strings' vibrations to the neck and is impregnated with Teflon to improve the tuning performance of your guitar. Play as hard as you want, bend a few steps, and your strings glide back into tune. The highly resonant material also means you'll get more richness and harmonics from every note.
Dependable Hardware The TonePros Tune-O-Matic bridge with string-thru-body design means even more sustain and harmonics, and combined with Schecter's tuners gives you stable tuning and more control over your sound. Plus, as mentioned above, the black chrome finish has the looks to match.
