Fender 57 Champ Custom 5W 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo Amp Tweed Review

How can I put this?
Oh, yeah, it's probably a lot more expensive than it should be, just imagine how much one o' those cost back in '53...
50 bucks? Certainly not the actual 25 X it's real production price.
Anyways, thing sounds like you had a wee li'l reed player in yo pocket so tenor it is.
Not terribly bright or low-ended, what with the small size, but at any rate, the darn sweetest mid range you'll get to hear...this side of saturn, of course.
Niceness all around untill you start missing your big guns.
Right-o?

Randall NBKING112 Nuno Bettencourt Signature Series Combo Amplifier

was initially inspired to get one of these when i saw Extreme's Take us Alive Dvd. Nuno's tone is fantastic...think early Eddie Van Halen on steroids. saw clips on youtube that were good as well. so i (for the first time ever) ordered with blind faith. came very well packaged in 2 boxes (doubled for strength) etc. in mint condition and worked straight away....the only reason i gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because it is SO LOUD! master volume comes in handy though. favorite channel in the channel 1...can get fenderish/funky/light to grain out gain...really, this channel could be the only one (with a boost) and i would be happy...a real jack of all trades!! asthetically, this thing looks so retro and so cool. comes with casters and wheels, very sturdy pedal/midi switcher (amp fully programmable via midi...SUPERB!!) and heavy duty midi cable. folks, if you are like me and have been looking for an all in one amp that can go from beautifull cleans (lots of headroom) to nice overdrive to flat out funk (AND shred), this is the badboy to beat!!!

I've owned and gigged with one of these for several years. Its clarity and presence are truly remarkable, both from its own speakers and via its XLR direct outs. I've recorded with it direct to the board and its silence is SILENT. Musicians swoon when they try it, it seems few have heard that Genz Benz isn't just a builder of amazing bass amps any more.
Check this one out closely.

Datastroyer 210 Disintegrator Review

Datastroyer 210 Disintegrator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I initially purchased the Datastroyer 210 Disintegrator for my son's tenth birthday a few weeks ago. He had wanted a Disintegrator for a while, and after searching around and reading countless reviews from world renowned Disintegratoralists, I found that Datastroyer was a trusted brand. It's hard to find quality Disintegrators for less than $30k these days, so this was really a steal.
The Datastroyer 210 is a mid-sized model and weighs in at a little over a ton. The bottomless filter evacuation system and 20 hp motor make it incredibly efficient. We've spent countless nights as a family sitting around the '210 disintegrating until we all end up asleep. Luckily, with its full soundproofing carriage, the kiddos can snuggle right up next to it without ruining their slumber.
For me personally, the Datastroyer 210 has not only brought my family closer together, but has single handedly saved my marriage. I must confess in the early 90s I fell into an experimental beatnik revival troupe based in Portland. In an acid-induced haze we produced a thousand each of sixteen limited edition folk EPs that we tried to sell for money in order to buy a '74 Winnebago to use as a mobile crank lab.
Turns out that plan didn't really work exactly as we had planned. Skinnerd, the troupe leader, was so hopped up on purple mikes that he took out a loan from the bank, bought the records himself, and convinced us all we made ten grand in sales while we did nothing but sit around and breeze.
With the money, we bought the Winnebago and got it set up to start cooking while we traveled the country. Things were going pretty well up until the winter '98, when we got spotted in Nebraska dealing on the edge of a WalMart parking lot at 3 am. It had always been a safe spot for us, the place was always dead that early in the morning, and half of the night crew were tweakers anyway, so it was perfect.
What we didn't know is that night was the night they released Furby - Electronic - Brown Body & Feet, Tan Chest/Belly, White Inner Ears, so the cops were in the area to keep things running smoothly. When old Skinnerd saw the blue meanies he jet, leaving the rest of us high and dry with nearly three pounds of speed in our pockets. We were able to hide out until the cops cleared, and went our separate ways out of fear.
After that incident I was spooked and cleaned up my act. I got married to my beautiful wife in 2000, and had my baby boy a year later. In 2004 we had twin girls, and in 2007 added another boy to our little family. I've never been happier, and wouldn't trade any of them for even the purest scag.
All was good, until late last year when Skinnerd got in contact with me after years of flying incognito. He was a complete mess and had track marks all over his arms. He said he needed a place to hide out until he ditched some detective who had been chasing him the last couple years. Being a respectable guy, I agreed to help an old friend out. That decision almost ruined my life.
You see, after Skinnerd parked the `bago in my garage, he took off again on foot. I figured he would return in due time, but after seven months of no contact, I was starting to get concerned. On top of my concern, my wife was becoming more and more upset that an old drug wagon was sitting in garage in plain sight of our young children.
After threatening to leave me if I didn't do anything, I finally decided to check out the vehicle to see what I could do about it. This was about a month ago now, I believe. What I found shocked me. Skinnerd not only kept cooking after the Furby Incident, but he also started buying and selling dozens of different pills, powders, uppers, downers, and some of the dankest sticky green I have ever smelled. I was horrified. Literally hundreds of thousands of dollars of various drugs were just sitting in my garage for the better part of a year. I knew I couldn't tell my wife about the stash-- she would have flipped out and left me for sure. So, I decided I needed to get rid of it.
I figured selling it was my best option, although I knew my wife would get suspicious if I started bringing home thousands of dollars worth of dirty money. That's when my son mentioned he wanted a Disintegrator for his birthday.
That was perfect. I could get my son his dream gift, while simultaneously dumping off some of my product. After making enough for the Datastroyer 210, I ordered it on Amazon and had it shipped to my office, to prevent my son from snooping. He always has been pretty bad about that. For Christmas when he was five, my wife and I wanted to surprise him with a nice Tony Bennett record ( Duets: An American Classic ). A week before Christmas we heard him singing "Because of You", Bennett's impeccable duet with k.d. lang. When we asked him where he had heard the song we could tell he knew we had caught him. I'll never forget how his eyes grew wide and he started to squirm in fear. Aren't kids just adorable?
Anyway, I knew I didn't want him disintegrating anything before his big day, so I was sure to keep it hidden from him. Everything looked like it was going to work out, so I was happy again.
That is, until my wife stumbled upon the remaining stash while looking for our Shop-Vac 9650600 3.0-Peak HP Pro Series Wet or Dry Vacuum, 6-Gallon in the garage. She really ripped into me about that. She basically told me if the stuff wasn't gone in the morning, she would be.
What a sticky wicket I was in, right? I had probably forty pounds of goods left and nowhere un-inconceivable to hide them. What was a man to do?
That's when I remembered about the Datastroyer.
I drove the Winnebago to my office where I proceeded to disintegrate everything. All of the drugs and drug paraphernalia were the first to go. Luckily, the rugged welded plate construction and multiple flaps of the 210 prevented any flyback of the product, which was good considering I didn't want any angel dust to get on me in the process. The 210 is NSA rated at 525 pounds per hour, so I got through the drugs in just over four and a half minutes. Since that took less time than I had anticipated, I started searching around the Winnebago for any other signs of my past that I didn't want to get out.
That's when I found the records. I knew those had to go, I couldn't risk my wife listening to that stuff-- it was far too personal. So, I dumped all 16 thousand of them into the Datastroyer. The large 12"x16" throat size made shoveling the EPs incredibly quick and easy.
After searching for a few more embarrassing items to disintegrate, I quickly realized that the whole Winnebago smelled like drugs and I would need to find a place to get rid of it as well. At this point, my fingerprints were all over it, and if a cop were to find it I knew I'd be done for. I took one look at the 7 (5 rotor and 2 bed) high chrome/high carbon D2 steel knives on the Datastroyer and was confident it could make quick work of the Winnebago (the '74 is widely known as one of the more compact models, which worked in my favor as well).
Because of the open slant-cut rotor design that improves air flow and allows for efficient cutting, I was able to shred through the entire front end of the Winnebago with no trouble. When I was about halfway through, however, I started hearing something strange coming from the storage compartments underneath the floor. It sounded like a wounded animal. I lifted up the door to the compartment and nearly threw up. It was Skinnerd. He had been hiding out in the bottom of the Winnebago for nearly a year, surviving on nothing but drugs and whatever bugs crawled his way.
I knew I needed to do something about Skinnerd fairly quickly, otherwise he would surely start to rage when he realized what I did to all his candy. Without hesitation, I pulled him out of storage, and led him straight into the Datastroyer. His fleshy body initially clogged the system, but I was able to utilize a few of the 12 electrical controls and was able to reverse the bed knives just enough to unclog it and get it moving again.
The white walls of the machine became caked in blood, but clean up was a breeze, and I was able to disintegrate everything that had been in contact with Skinnerd's blood. I finished up disintegrating the entire Winnebago right as the cleaning crew entered the office building. They were kind enough to give me a ride home after I explained what had happened. Great people.
When I returned home my wife was very excited that I had gotten rid of everything, and we celebrated together by making intercourse.
You see, the Datastoryer changed my life. Without it, I don't know what I would be like right now. My wife would have surely left me, I probably would have developed a taste for drugs again, which would have left me face down in the mud, no doubt. I am forever in debt to everyone at Datastroyer Industries, and I want nothing more in life than to spend my time campaigning for their products-- specifically the 210. Hopefully my little review here will inspire others to buy a Datastroyer Disintegrator for their homes. I promise it will bring your family closer together as it has brought mine. It is truly a remarkable piece of equipment, and should be a staple of every living room across the nation.

I cannot believe how great this guitar is to play and how it sounds. I was not in need of any new guitars since I have several Les Pauls, strats, teles, etc. But I saw this guitar on Stupid Deal of the Day on another retailer's site. I had to have it since I was intrigued by the coil-split pickups, the neck attaching at the 22nd fret, the supposed comfort and and the price. WOW!!! It is so much fun to play - it has a very earthy sound and you can get some great bluesy or rock sounds out of it. But, on top of that it has a great acoustic tone and the notes really shine through. It's a great guitar for playing solo and singing since the notes really shine through over any gain or other effect. I tend to alter my attack more than changing the sound with knobs and stompboxes and this guitar is so great for that. Just a little more attack and you get a little grittier sound. The coil-splitting sounds so great - after you dial this guitar in to your amp, you will love playing it. The neck is very comfortable and since it attaches at the 22nd fret you can play all the way up the neck. I can play chords at the 20th fret. It is so lightweight yet it still has great sustain. This guitar is awesome for fingerpicking as the pickups are quite sensitive and it allows you to create different sounds from just the way you pick the strings - something I am not used to on even my 2005 Les Paul with Burstbucker Pros. I can honestly say that I play this guitar much more than my ES335, 2 Les Pauls, 1990 American Standard Strat - it is THAT comfortable and enjoyable to play. It is super FUN To play!

A good guitar, especially to be used as a base for mods, or for a new guitar player. I had to take out the bridge HB because it sounded pretty bad. The bridge JM pickup actually sounds wonderful. Neck is very playable and is great. There is no tremolo lock or secondary/rhythm channel on these, unlike normal jazzmasters. The bridge is also a bit of a step up from the mandatorily-replaced classic jazzmaster bridge, but is still prone to buzzes and such without a proper setup.

This was my second amp, first being a bare to the bone First Act amp with nothing on it. This amp was DEFINENTLY an improvement. It was well worth the money, gives a nice clean sound when you need one, and also an adjustable distortion. Its effects are nice, but I barely use them. It's kinda big, but it's easily portable. If this one broke, I wouldn't mind having to replace it. It is a very good amp, and I highly recommend it to a somewhere between beginner and intermediate level guitar player. When I use the amp for practice, I don't normally put the volume level anywhere past 2, it can get LOUD!

Fender Mustang IV Electric Guitar Amplifier Review

Fender Mustang IV Electric Guitar Amplifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was looking for a guitar amp that sounded great, offered many tonal options and could be played in public venues. Well, I have to say that I believe I've found the holy grail of an amp that spot-on replicates the tonal qualities of such amps as a Fender '65 Deluxe, Bassman, and the Super Sonic. And no, lets clear the air, I am not, and do not, have any connections to Fender in any way, shape or form. I know a lot of people think that the Fender factory reps jump on these Review forums to try to entice consumers to buy their products. Maybe they do. I can't say. I am a full-time engineer and a guitarist in a nights/weekends band who was searching for a great sounding and versatile amplifier. This Fender Mustang 4 that I bought recently is every bit that amp. The Bassman and Super Sonic settings alone practically justify the price. They sound exactly like these Fender tube amps. The 'modeling' technology they are using is simply incredible. By the way, you will NOT be short on volume with this thing. With twin (true stereo) 12" Celestion speakers and 150 watts I can only turn the master up to 1 1/2 or 2 in my basement and around 4 to 5 when playing live. Anyway, enough rah rah. If you want to see and hear it, go to YouTube and search on Fender Mustang 4. Watch the 2 videos from the recent music industry NAMM show... and also view the video of this guitarist with a green Carvin guitar and a Mustang 4, in his basement. The guy is demonstrating the Mustang 4 and he really shows you the tones you can get. Those 3 videos show what this amp can do. Yes, on the NAMM show video, the guy is a Fender rep. Who cares? He does a good job of showing you what this amp is all about. Bottom line: bang for the buck value and awesome TONE.

ZT Lunchbox 200-watt 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amplifier Review

ZT Lunchbox 200-watt 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amplifier

This amp will not blow away a quality amp with a bigger speaker.
But, for a 9 lb amp, it's remarkable.
Out of the box, it is very dry and even a little harsh sounding, but, with some outboard reverb and EQ, it can sound quite good. It retains its sound quality at high volume (I played it with keys, bass and drums and had no problem with volume). You forget how small the thing is.
I rated it 4 stars because there are better sounding amps (although they are bigger) and because it requires outboard FX to sound good at all.

Fender Mustang III Electric Guitar Amplifier Review

Fender Mustang III Electric Guitar Amplifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Construction
This Amp certainly looks sharp. It is not nearly as heavy as I would expect a 100W amp to be, but seems well put together.
Controls
The III comes with a 2 button Foot Pedal which feels very solid and works perfectly. (You can expand to add an optional 4 button switch that Fender sells separately and also includes in the IV and V.)
On the amp, you have separate EQ knobs (Treble, Mids and Low) you have a gain, a volume, a Master Volume and a Reverb. Along with these, you also have an LCD screen that tells you which amp model you are using with witch pedals, presets, delays and reverbs. You also have separate buttons for changing Amp models, reverb, delays and modulation effects. The large knob on the top actually scrolls through presets, and once you press it, you can go into deep editing of the amp models, effects and presets.
The controls are intuitive and easy to use. It is a great mix of visual digital feedback as well as tactile knobs.
Comparing to other amps:
The Fender GDEC 3 does not have as much deep editing available on the amp itself. You need to use your computer to edit and download settings properly. But on the Mustang III, you do not feel that you are missing out on editing functionality by not keeping it plugged into a computer.
I don't know of another amp that has controls that are both as intuitive and as powerful.
The Sound (Most important)
Let me first compare this amp to what Line 6, Vox, and Peavy have offered in the past. All of the companies that have gone heavy into the amp modeling offer endless numbers of sounds and effects... BUT... How many of those sounds are useful for guitarists who are learning and trying to create sounds based on music that has inspired them? Line 6 offers tons of sounds... most of them are what I would call "niche" sounds that are only useful when recording a weird intro, or some crazy effects laden sound. What I find with Line 6 is that their vintage tones are very digital sounding and sound over processed. They don't sound overdriven, they just sound distorted. Also, Line 6 offers oodles of sounds for progressive rock, metal, and maybe even some weird jazz fusion. These sounds are unique and interesting, but the vast majority are of no use to someone like me who is learning to play the songs that I love and looking for useful rock, blues, and metal tones.
What I can say about the Mustang III is that the tones do not sound digital or overly processed. The Vintage amps have some great overdriven types of sounds. These are very passable sounds and fantastic models of the Real Thing. You can find the actual base amp models in memory banks 88-99. By playing these sounds you get a real feel of what you can do to the amps. A few of the sounds that are simply amazing to me are:
'57 Champ This amp model sounds so convincingly cool just like a little 8 inch Champ. Tons of character and tone. You can get some really cool vintage type blues sounds through this amp model. Think the Jimi Blues cd. The presets that use this amp that Fender created are all really fun and sound amazing.
Fender Bassman Wow! You can get some great bold rock sounds out of this amp model. It has the recognizable tone of the Bassman modeled really well. Big Bold bottom end with some singing highs.
'65 Deluxe is a fantastic all purpose amp model. Throw an overdrive pedal on there and play some great classic rock/blues. Or leave it alone for a beautiful clean tone.
The British Amps are all good models of Vox and Marshall type amps. They are all bold and in your face. Just play one ACDC riff into the 70's amp and you'll recognize the sound.
As far as the Vintage tones go...I dare you to find anything that models vintage tones this well anywhere. If you play rock, blues, Country, hard rock or Jazz, you have so many great choices. People who play in churches will love the variety of clean tones for your lighter stuff and good overdriven rock tones for faster paced songs.
What surprises me is that Fender has strongly marketed this amp for people who play heavy music. I was worried that the heavier amp models would not be nearly as good.
I was wrong. The 90's stack can get nice and grungy or crunchy as you like it. I'm pretty sure that this is a Mesa Boogie type of model. This is certainly your Metallica amp.
The 2000 metal is for all of your nu metal needs and can be pulled back a little to play some cool thrash sounds too.
The BIG bonus for heavy guitarists in my opinion though is the SuperSonic. This amp has a lot of great character and you can make it bluesy or really make it heavy and bold to play metal, thrash or whatever. If you overdrive it with a built in pedal, you can get some great raw and heavy tones out of this. I play some metal and hard rock as well as the classic and blues stuff that I like. I personally will play all of my heavy stuff on this SuperSonic amp.
The fact that you can take any of these basic amps and layer effects and pedals on them gives you absolutely infinite combinations of tones. You can have one guy who sets all 100 presets with vintage tones, and another guy who has all of the presets filled with metal and thrash. It is limitless.
I would, without a doubt choose this amp over ANY modeling amp out there for practice and fun.
I own a pimped out MIM Strat, and a off-the-rack Classic Vibe Strat and Tele as well as a Les Paul style guitar. They ALL sound very cool on this amp. The Classic Vibe 60's Strat really impresses me through this amp. So versatile with so many great sounds and such a high quality sound. I am really loving it!
This amp can play really really loud with it's 100 Watts, but you can also play it with great tone at very low volumes. (I have 4 kids and practice at night, and this amp is perfect.)
Fender Fuse and Ableton Software
I have to admit that I really don't feel a lot of need to dive too much deeper into sound editing than what I can do manually on the amp. However, You'll find amazing tones all over the Fender Fuse. The system is super easy to use and store on your amp. As with any open online forum, you will have to wade through tones that you don't love and aren't described well. But you will find some gems too.
I have not had time to dive into the ableton recording software yet, so I will have to save that review for later.
The FINAL WORD
I am a Father of 4 who needs an amp that sounds great at low volumes. I like Vintage tones as much as Heavy stuff, so I like a variety of tones. I hate overprocessed guitar tones. This amp is perfect for me. Perfect. The amp models are great, and the factory installed presets are a great variety of usable sounds. It comes with a built in tuner, tap tempo effects, a two button footswitch, an effects loop, a digital interface, deep editing computer software, a headphone jack, a usb port, recording software, and more
At $299 This amp costs less than effects pedals that friends of mine have purchased. I have a $300 strat that I love that sounds beautiful through it. After buying it, I have listed a Tube amp and several effects pedals that I have loved because I no longer will play it.
There is no better modeling amp for my needs!

Love It,. have spent considerable time this weekend with some of the included backing tracks,. A Lot of Lick Building Fun. Sounds Fantastic for a solid state amp. I was debating on spending a bit more for a killer tube amp ,. but liked all the options and diversity of this gdec3. So far, I am very happy and not dissapointed by my choice. The software (Fender Fuse) is pretty cool but will definitely need some improvement,. like drag and drop new presets and songs as backing tracks. Otherwise very cool. Would be perfect if it had a simple recording feature., like say 4 tracks.
