(More customer reviews)The first time I saw this guitar, I knew I HAD to have it. So I ordered one and waited, waited, waited. Not that it took that long, I was just anxious, lol. Finally it arrived and I was so excited! I unpacked it, plugged it in and tried to tune it. Dismay! This was really upsetting, the action was so bad, it was ridiculous. The guitar sounded terrible. Finally, I sighted down the neck and saw a pretty bad bow in the neck. For a few minutes, I was miserable about the whole thing and wanted to ship it back. But then, I have some experience with guitars and know how to use my hands, so I tightened the truss rod and straightened the neck - which improved the action dramatically, of course, but it still sounded like a bucket of wrenches rattling around inside a garbage can. I checked the intonation and every string was off pretty severely. Ok, I happen to know how to fix that, so I did - took a good half hour, but I got it intonated properly, and suddenly, it sounded just great! But... the tone knob was scratchy and the volume knob had a big dead spot in it. I didn't want to mess with replacing the knobs so I called a "Johnson" dealer that I found locally through the AXL website. They refused to help me. So I paid another guy at a closer shop to fix it, and all he had to do was use some electrical spray to 'clean' the pots. NOW, the guitar plays, sounds and operates the way it should. I can't say whether the manufacturer was responsible for the condition of the guitar, the dealer I bought it through, or the shipper (who might have left it in the sun for hours or something). I can only hope that no one else has to go through all that. I will watch the reviews to see if others have the same issues. The guitar is great now.
