Not only can you get all these sounds (including customized alternate tunings) from your favorite axe, you can switch among the sounds instantly. For any Alex Lifeson fans who need to switch between acoustic and electric guitars on the fly, this is what you've been waiting for. I have been a guitarist for over 30 years, and while I have always liked the Variax technology, I haven't been as thrilled with the Variax line of guitars. Rackvax takes care of that! All you need is a guitar with a 13-pin midi pickup. I have several guitars with the Roland GK-3, Ghost and RMC hex pickups which all work well. IMO the Ghost Hexpander pickup has the brightest sound and is a first choice-professional installation is the way to go.
The unit can be tweaked with Line6's Variax Workbench software (free download) which makes full customization a breeze. The rack mount unit has simple knob controls, but essential functions can be selected by on board guitar switching or via a midi pedal board. Going to the gig has never been easier!
