Takamine TAN16C Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Gloss Natural Review

Takamine TAN16C Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Gloss Natural

Beautifully constructed and finished, amazing sound either acoustic or plugged.
This guitar is wonderful, just 2 weeks playing and it works very well. The woods give you a bright tone but sweet at the same time, the balance between bass and treble is wonderful. Very comfortable to play either with your fingers or with a pick.
When you play it acoustic it sounds incredible but when you plugged it is when you find its real value, the preamp itself sounds good but when you include the on board tube on the chain the sound is huge, sweetly compressed as only tubes can. No more boomy bass on a guitar, you can understand every detail. I have even played on some concerts with it and everyone at my band is amazed. Nice choice. I made an extensive research and found this like the one I was searching for... now that I own it, I can proudly say that I was right.
Recommended!!!

Very happy with the guitar. Feels full of quality and love the tube pickup. Sounds very warm and natural.
I live in Australia and had this guitar shipped from the US. Arrived in gemreat condition thanks to the hard case that came with it.

EG523HB G Series Jumbo Acoustic Electric Guitar (Honeyburst) Review

i'm amazed by this instrument. the burst is much darker than shown on the photos, and that's a really good thing (it actually matches my epiphone les paul's colour!)
This thing sounds really great, and it's got a WHOLE LOT of volume! my parents tell me i have to go upstairs because of the volume!
there are absolutely no drawbacks on this thing!
if this thing was stolen, i would buy it again! and kill the person who stole it XD! nah, just kidding... ;)
i wouldn't get a backup for this thing. it feels rock-solid (when considering it's a hollow-body). but if i had to have a backup, i'd just order one more of these :D
Cheers!

Takamine Supernatural Series TAN15C Dreadnought Acoustic Electric Guitar, Natural with Case Review

Takamine Supernatural Series TAN15C Dreadnought Acoustic Electric Guitar, Natural with Case

I've played guitar for about 15 years now. Everything from ambient to Latin music to metal. I was in the market for a new acoustic electric 3-4 years ago when I almost jokingly tried out the Takamine TAN15C at a small music store in Arizona. I say "jokingly" because I was looking to spend about half of what the Tak's price tag said. One chord and a run up the neck was all it took to know this guitar was different. Very different. I could play smoother, faster, and with more feeling, automatically. The unplugged tone was mindblowing. Clear, percussive, and clean, but still warm. The action felt like a top-end American Strat. I tried a couple of other high-end guitars in the shop, and nothing even came close. I broke out the credit card and have been in guitar-love ever since.
I later found out that the plugged-in tone is equally amazing, thanks to the high-end electronics and CoolTube technology. To this day, the superiority of this guitar versus any other make/model is very real. Not that I've played everything out there, and I still haven't found a TAN16C to compare it with; but I can honestly say that the dozens of guitars I've tried out since buying this one (most of which cost more) fail to even come close. I've searched for months to find a worthy backup guitar for gigs and alternate tunings, and one thing seems clear: I better just pick up another TAN15C. I'm spoiled for life.

Takamine G Series EG444C-VV NEX Acoustic Electric Guitar, Vintage Violin Review

Takamine G Series EG444C-VV NEX Acoustic Electric Guitar, Vintage Violin

(More customer reviews)
When I gave my old Yamaha to my niece, I was left with two guitars - an old Renaissance (really no name) acoustic guitar and a Gibson USA Les Paul Double Cutaway TV Yellow electric guitar. The Renaissance was my first guitar but until the Yamaha, I had no idea how mediocre that guitar was. Needless to say, I avoided playing it and played the electric guitar instead.
But there's just something about playing acoustic guitars. Don't get me wrong, playing an electric guitar is a fantastic experience but that's just it - it's a different experience. So then, back to the Renaissance I went.
After playing the Les Paul electric, it took quite an adjustment to play the acoustic again. And this time I can really "tell" how mediocre the Renaissance is. So, I decided to "fix" it by using high-end strings - the Elixir Nanoweb Lights. Those strings are great. It made the guitar more playable and made it sound better.
But still, there was this yearning for a better guitar. And so I started the search. I wanted a brand new guitar and I wanted it to at least look better than the one I have. I also wanted it to be an acoustic electric. And a cutaway. And I did not want to pay an arm and a leg. And more importantly, it must sound good unplugged.
Searching on the web yielded many options but I had to stay disciplined and stay within my set price range. Based on looks, two stood out for me - the Epiphone PR5E and the Epiphone J-200. To Tom Lee I went to try them out. Unfortunately, they didn't have the PR5E but I tried the J-200 and the Texan. As well as a bunch of Yamahas, Fenders and Takamines. The guitars I tried looked good but didn't quite have the sound that appealed to me. Then out of nowhere, there was this Seagull Coastline S6 Slim Cutaway Spruce. It looked good, it felt good, and it sounded good. I found it had more resonance and a fuller sound than the others. It matched perfectly for my test song - Neil Young's Heart of Gold. And buy it I did.
I loved the guitar but it was still missing something. It's the look. I was thinking to myself, why would the look matter? It's a musical instrument. All that mattered most was the sound and it's playability. But I couldn't resist. Since the Seagull cost half of what I budgeted for anyway, why not get a second guitar (albeit a second unplanned acoustic guitar purchase)?
To Long & McQuade I went. They have the Epiphone PR5E in stock. Unfortunately, as good as it looked, the sound was not appealing to me. Amazingly (in the negative sense), it sounded like my Renaissance. But just like the Seagull, out of nowhere, there's this Takamine. The EG444C-VV. I've never seen this in the four or five guitar stores I've visited. I tried it and I was hooked. In terms of playability, it somehow reminds me of my old Yamaha but the EG444C-VV sounds better. And that vintage violin finish with a somewhat sunburst effect is very striking. Pictures don't do it justice.
And of course, the sound. The mahogany woods do make it sound different from the Seagull Coastline S6's spruce/wild cherry wood combo. Although it does not sound as "loud" as the Coastline S6, the Takamine EG444C-VV has a different "ring". If the Seagull has the punch, the Takamine has the jingle. And this Takamine appears to have more resonant harmonics than the Seagull. To me, the S6's harmonics appear a little duller compared to the EG444C-VV's more especially at the saddle/bridge. (When strumming sometimes I play by the saddle so the side of my hand kinda muffles the notes. On the Takamine this works wonderfully but sounds muffled on the S6). Needless to say, I bought the EG444C-VV.
At home, I pitted the Coastline S6 against the EG444C-VV. I was contemplating returning one of them. The more I played them, the more I liked both and the more I understood their differences and where they "fit". Only then did I truly understand why some people have multiple guitars. I was attempting to have a utility guitar that's kinda one-size-fits-all. But some songs just go better with certain guitars. Playing Neil Young's Heart of Gold on these guitars clearly showed me it's more for the Coastline S6. On the other hand, Coldplay's Fix You matched better with the EG444C-VV.
By the way, I've yet to plug them in. That will be a review for another day....

I have had this guitar for a little over a month now. I have played one live show with it, and have recorded two songs in my studio with it. It is working like a champ. I have not really used the tuner, so I can't comment on it, but the sound is great. It's hard to find a classical guitar with a solid wood top (not plywood) that also has the electronics and cutaway for this price. I would recommend it to anyone. (I have played guitar for 15 years, and have owned several previous guitars).

The guitar is playable right out of the box. Action is high but reasonable, but the more you play it the more you like it. This is my first, and I love it. Takamine customer service (via email) is great; they would answer any question you might have. The guitar comes with DAddario EXP16 according to them. I did change them to EPX10 Extra Light Coated 8020 and it is a better player. Next will be a good setup by a professional. Get a humidifier; I got the Planet Waves Acoustic Guitar Humidifier System, plain and simple. Get a case as well, I bought the Takamine case that is very secure and keeps the guitar well. I played a Gibson similar to the Takamine, and no much difference but the price. I put both guitars thru a good amp. With no amp, I experience little difference. The guitar stays in tuned for days once the strings have stretched. The wood grain in the guitar is beautiful, it looks and sounds like a $2000 guitar. Don't let people know. Is a Korean made guitar, which tells you that is good quality. With no more to say. Get one, have fun and play it a lot.
