After reading an outstanding review in Guitar Player magazine I was swayed from the equally girly-glam Rock Candy to this little beauty and I wasn't disappointed. The tones are rich and full, without the annoyance of neck buzzing like its Rock Candy counterpart.
For my smallish hands the 3/4 scale neck is perfect. I can easily switch between barre chords without manually placing each finger (read: using my right hand to place my fingers on the chords) to obtain additional reach. My speed and flow of notes improved from the first go on my Elite. Additionally, the slim line of the body makes for comfortable playing.
Even my boyfriend, who is a seasoned guitarist, is surprised and satisfied with the quality and sound from this "girly" guitar. Don't let the name, concept, or sparkly colors fool you - these guitars are quality instruments with a great sound.

I had never played or even seen a Daisy Rock guitar before, but purchased it after extensive research on the net. An article that influenced me considerably appeared in the May 2007 issue of Guitar Player Magazine, titled: "35 guitars under $500."
Summary comments about the Daisy Rock, Rock Candy Custom Special guitar made by the five experienced testers were as follows: "Plays flawlessly. Sounds amazing. Fabulous guitar." "A joy to play. Pickups lively and well balanced. Volume and tone controls have good range." "Every tone I wanted I got. One of the most impressive budget axes I've seen." "Simply stunning on all fronts. (More customer reviews)I'm a full-time working guitar player and guitar instructor, who happens to teach a lot of women and girls ages 6-60 (but I also have a lot of male students.)
Although I do own many guitars by other well-known traditional brands, I mostly play Daisy Rock guitars in the recording studio, in live performances and at various pro-level jam sessions in Los Angeles. My students usually see me play a Daisy Rock at lessons. The reasons why I do it is because Daisy Rock makes guitars that have a lot of high-quality features that you'd usually find in much more expensive instruments; they're really easy and comfortable to play, and I really like their mission to inspire females to play guitar.
I first saw the Rock Candy Dark Star at the 2006 NAMM show, and was really struck by how easy and good it felt to play. The satin finish on the back of the neck really helps. My hands are tiny (as small as the hands of some of my pre-teen students), so bending strings and playing barre chords was always a bit of a struggle for me when I started playing. I wish this guitar would have been around when I began taking guitar lessons!
I soon got the chance to plug the Dark Star into an amp... it's a great sounding guitar, especially for rock and harder rock styles. I played in a Led Zeppelin tribute group and played this guitar at shows, since Les Pauls are way too heavy for me and my back. My only cautionary note is that you have to be careful with the satin paint finish, as it scratches easily. Make sure to keep your guitar in the case when you're not playing it, and don't lean it against the wall or do anything else that'll make it fall - but that's common advice regardless of what guitar you play!
Guitar Player Magazine also featured the Dark Star in their Editor's Pick section a couple of years ago when the guitar model first came out. They mentioned how much guitar (=high-quality features) you get for the relatively low price. I love my guitar!

Daisy Rock Rebel Rockit Supernova (Cosmic Pink) Review

It's perfect because I can fit my fingers around it and the strings are closer to the fretbored so my fingers don't hurt after I play. If I can just play it all day and all night, I would. I play it everytime I take a break from doing my school work since I am a home school. I love my guitar so much. It is beautiful and easy to play. (More customer reviews)This guitar sounds the best of any of the electric girl guitars I have purchased so far. It is very lightweight so it doesn't tire you out to hold it and play it. I just got mine yesterday and have already put in four hours of playing time. Men and women alike love this guitar. Experienced players love the bigsby roller saddle. Everyohne loves the color which is really more of an aqua. One of my co-workers said it was so beautiful it gave her the shivers. This is a guitar to fall in love with. I can barely put it down.

But you won't really appreciate its sounds for the price, unless you've had several guitars before. Don't fall in love with the purple in the picture, though. I did and I was disappointed. But if you want an affordable, great sounding, purplish guitar, this is a definite buy.
