Tech 21 BSDR-DLX SansAmp Bass Driver Deluxe Review

Tech 21 BSDR-DLX SansAmp Bass Driver Deluxe
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I play in 2 bands and I typically use 2 to 3 Basses on stage depending on the band (and the stage). I have always fought with having to dial in the right tone for each Bass every time I switch Basses. The Tech 21 BSDR-DLX SansAmp Bass Driver Deluxe solves that problem. I can preset the 3 main tones I need for 2 Basses and when I switch basses, it just takes a split second to hit the footswitch and I have the exact sound I need. This thing is very easy to setup and has a boatload of other features. Besides the obvious XLR Direct out, it also has a 1/4" Parallel out that is pre-tone controls so you can send your unaltered Bass signal to a Tuner or in my case, another amplifier. It also has an effects loop so you can have your effects setup and just hit one switch and you have the tone you need plus the effects you need. There's a small learning curve and you need some time for trial and error with the tone controls and the drive, level and blend controls if your customizing your own sounds. You can also just use the stock sounds that come pre-programmed and it sounds great. I've had many compliments from band mates as well as fans in the audience about my sound since using the Bass Driver Deluxe. I would definitely recommend the Tech 21 BSDR-DLX SansAmp Bass Driver Deluxe for any Bassist. I would also recommend you buy the optional Tech 21 DC2 DC2 Power Supply.

Carl Martin Octaswitch Review

My pedals sound amazing. No dancing. Incredible. Only thing that sucks but that is just inherent in the pedal is how many cables are needed. Like 16 cables. It's crazy. But the pedal is true bypass which makes my rig sound so friggin good. I'm in the process of making my own cables because it's cheaper and I can get specific lengths. The Octa-switch is highly recommended.

It is very good design and material. This ukulele keeps in tune very well. Sound is good enough for the price. To be honest what makes this ukulele so special is the case which comes with it. I'm pretty sure that just the case by itself would cost about $50. So far i haven't found anything wrong with this ukulele

Flinthill FHM75 F-Style Mandolin Review

Flinthill FHM75 F-Style Mandolin
Average Reviews:

Purchased this mando for my son who started on cheaper mandos to learn. He had moved up to my wifes Morgan monroe mm-3 and was ready for his own better grade of mandolin. We purchased the Flinthill not knowing how well it would be, but at this price range we knew it wouldnt be junk. Well we were right, it was better than expected. I had to tighted up the strings, tune it and it was ready to play. We all were amazed by the mellow tones and crispt play of this instrument. The inlays are great looking and the fret board is nice and straight with the action low so its easy to play. You will not go wrong with this instrument.

Dunlop MC-403 MXR Custom Audio Electronics Power System Review

Dunlop MC-403 MXR Custom Audio Electronics Power System

I'm running a pretty big pedal board with 10 DC (all 9 volts) and 2 AC powered pedals (line6 M9 and Digitech Whammy Wah) and this does the job flawlessly. Absolutely no noise or interference. It replaced my Voodoo Labs AC power and Pedal Power II. This unit is very well designed and well built. The information I found on line was a little sketchy and careful inspection of the pics online weren't consistent. I took a chance on buying this hoping it would power everything I needed and luckily it worked out.

LR Baggs Venue DI Direct Box Review

LR Baggs Venue DI Direct Box
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I would have given this product five stars if the tuner stomp function was 100% reliable, which it isn't.
Otherwise, Baggs has created a great update to it's classic Para-Acoustic D.I.
I love the easily accessible knobs, in contrast to the Para's harder to reach (especially the gain control) knobs. However, the Venue does have one out-of-reach knob, and that is the adjuster for the 0-9db boost "stomp" function, which is a great feature on this pedal and one I use frequently during performance. I just wish I could adjust the db setting more easily; it's the one knob that is hard to access. Bummer.
The tuner issue I mentioned is the following: about 15% of the time (which is way too often), when I stomp the mute/tuner switch, the signal indeed mutes, but the tuner does not light up and engage. I have to stomp and re-stomp several times to activate the tuner when this occurs. Lame and annoying onstage.
Overall tone of the Venue is meaty and strong -- as good if not better than what I had with the Para, which I used for years before acquiring the Venue. I am happy with this product, but I really could use a stomp tuner that activates when it's stomped, 100% of the time.

Peterson V-SAM Virtual Strobe Audio Metronome Review

Peterson V-SAM Virtual Strobe Audio Metronome
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am called on to tune harpsichords, and this is often done using unusual temperaments and pitch standards far from A=440Hz. I formerly used the excellent Korg MT-1200, because it could be programmed to any temperament, and because it allowed a very wide range of pitch standards (I often need to tune to A=411, for example). Korg has discontinued the MT-1200, replacing it with the model OT-12, which has most of the same features but is not programmable. When the MT-1200 that I used went bad (its memory chip failed, so it needed to be re-programmed every time I used it, quite a hassle), I went on a search for something else that would do the job.
After consulting with harpsichord players, builders, and other experts, I learned about the Peterson V-SAM. None of my experts had actually used this tuner, but had heard that it was an amazing new device that was great for harpsichords. I called Peterson (for a very long time known as a venerable manufacturer of stroboscopic tuners) and their sales people confirmed that the V-SAM was excellent for this kind of instrument. I let my experts know what Peterson had told me, and so they independently bought V-SAMs at the same time I bought mine.
About a week after I got my V-SAM, I started getting calls from the others. Nobody could make the V-SAM work with harpsichords. It was unstable, and would frequently not even recognize that a note was being played on the instruments. Suspecting a faulty unit or perhaps a faulty manufacturing run, I checked my V-SAM with some wind instruments. It worked fine. Several calls to Peterson tech support revealed that if I simply added an external microphone, the V-SAM would work great on the harpsichord. I tried hand held mics, clip on mics, and suction-cup mics, and nothing helped. The others had similar experiences.
Finally, I was able to talk to engineering at Peterson, and was advised that the V-SAM was never designed to work with instruments like pianos or harpsichords. They said the tuner was intended to be used with instruments that can sustain their tones, like violins and wind instruments.
I have since returned my V-SAM, as have all my associates. I want to stress that this is not really a fault of the unit...Peterson is a good company with a high quality product. The problem is that this design is not suitable with certain instruments that produce transient tones. Unfortunately, Peterson sales and tech support did not know this and led me astray. Likewise, most retailers simply parrot what Peterson says or implies in their sales capacity, and hence the bad information is kept circulating.
In my opinion the V-SAM is a fine product for most applications, but if you want to use it with instruments that produce tones that decay quickly, look elsewhere.

Korg DTR-2000 Pro Rack Mount Multi-Mode Auto Chromatic Tuner Review

Korg DTR-2000 Pro Rack Mount Multi-Mode Auto Chromatic Tuner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Sure it's important to tune your guitar, setting guitar intonation is equally important, especially if you want to ROCK & ROLL!! We're not all gifted with perfect pitch, so most of us need some help to propery tune & intonate our guitar. I had been using a Quick Tune tuner, it worked ok, but my guitars still seemed slightly off, the Quick Tune tuner indication would jump around irratically at times, making it difficult to see what was really going on. While watching a documentary on the building of Les Paul guitars, I noticed this awsome tuner they used, it turned out to be the Korg DTR-2000. I bought one here on Amazon, it is AWSOME!! it precisely follows the note to allow for precise tuning and intonatation. I also found out that harmonics can cause the note to waver, that was what caused my Quick Tune to read erratically, but was totally obvious on the DTR-2000. My guitars never sounded better!! You've got to get one of these!!!!

Mitchell MD100SCE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar Natural Review

Mitchell MD100SCE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar Natural
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I wanted a lower-cost beginners guitar to start teaching myself. I chose this Mitchell for the Acoustic/Electric versatility, the phenomenal sound resonation, and the low action.
The sound rivals some of the lower end Taylors or Martins, for a fraction of the cost. It's easy for me to make it sound good since the action is so low, which means that the strings only rest slightly off the neck of the guitar. Great for beginners who don't have finger strength to play barre chords.
I have only plugged it in once or twice, but both times, the on board mini-amp has volume and hi/low levels, which get the job done. No cool effects on board, but I'm just a beginner trying to learn the basics of guitar theory.
Overall phenomenal guitar for beginners, also a great travel guitar for those with more experience, it won't let you down either.

This thing is amazing, for the price you pay you get what you deserve. For years I have been turning the guitar itself down and playing covered up in the only position that has the least amount of hum. I have spent hundreds chasing a way to control this to be a least tolerable. ISP has provided it for a couple of hundred.I Really wish they would have come up with a few years back, they would have saved me countless hours of frustration. Seriously, whether your a single coil or a hum bucker player you need this pedal. Loop or at the end of your string it is the absolute best in its category. I will never consider parting with it. Get yours today , you've read this far. Put it in the cart, you will be very glad you did. :-)

Takamine Pro Series EF340SCGN Dreadnought Acoustic Electric Guitar, Antique Natural with Case Review

Takamine Pro Series EF340SCGN Dreadnought Acoustic Electric Guitar, Antique Natural with Case
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've always played Yairi and Martin guitars and love both manufacturers quality and sound. I found a need for an acoustic electric and shopped around for almost a year. I had only been looking at natural spruce tops, when one day I happened to pick this guitar up and found myself unable to put it down. It has a brilliant responsive and accurate sound as well as action that met or exceeded my other acoustics. It was on sale at 799 and I had a 10% coupon - well I left with it. Played for another hour once home. The next day, I plugged it into our Yamaha Clavinova to check the "electric" side of the guitar, and was very pleased yet again. My daughter (keyboard) and I are working again on some songs as the guitar has sparked musical interest again in our home.
I was budgeting at 500 -600, but I would recommend saving another 300 and at least giving this handcrafted, quality Japanese beauty a look!

Taylor Guitars GT8 8 String Baritone Grand Symphony Acoustic Electric Guitar Review

Taylor Guitars GT8 8 String Baritone Grand Symphony Acoustic Electric Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This instrument can add a solid bottom end to any guitar gathering. The bass end is deep. It is tuned B to B and the F#, along with the two octave strings gives color to any song. It is quite easy to finger-pick, but does take a little more pressure than the typical six-string guitar as the strings are a little larger in gauge.
Play around with the capo and work your vocal range. It can do so much more than a regular six-string. Once you've played it, have been captured by the rich deep tone, you'll be hooked and will have to get one. I did. Had to trade in my Taylor GS7 as a down payment on this baby. Not sorry in the least. For me, this guitar is ideal, I've finally found that "almost perfect" guitar!
