Eden E300 E-Series Bass Amplifier Head Review

Eden E300 E-Series Bass Amplifier Head

So far it seems to be quite solid and reliable, unlike my previous amp, which was the first version of the workingmans 10 (whose power-supply capacitors keep shaking and breaking off), plus a better extension cab. Got the E300 at a reasonable price at Amazon, so it's made in China, but it looks like they've built it there as spec'd by Eden, and to good engineering specs at that.
On the other hand, the E300 weighs a fair amount and like all Eden amps, it seems, doesn't have a handle for carrying it. So I found a large computer bag and that so far works quite well for getting it around. My bass rig in fact right now is easier to get around - I can even carry every thing in one trip.
I'm only driving one Nemesis 2x10, so not using all the power of the amp, but I could add another cab. Nevertheless, this little set-up is great for a garage band, drums & all, and quite punchy. Its cooling fan is a little noisy but I haven't had any complaints from the rest of the band. And they appreciate the more solid power this amp has.

Gallien-Krueger MB200 - 200W Ultra Light Bass Amplifier Review

Gallien-Krueger MB200 - 200W Ultra Light Bass Amplifier

I've been an electric and upright bass player for over 15 years, and have been gigging regularly for the past 10 or so.
I hate hauling heavy gear.
I absolutely hate it. I build my own cabinets so I can shave pounds off of my load-in. I run with the smallest possible rig that I can get away with for any given show.
Because of that I've been watching the ultra-light part of the amp market for quite awhile now, waiting for good Class-D amps to make their way into the live audio segment at reasonable prices.
My last lightweight amp was a Crate Powerblock, 150w @4ohms and at least 4 times the weight of this one. Only problem with it is that it's a guitar amp, so it goes into overdrive when you turn the gain up past about 12 o'clock. It served my needs for gigs where I had a good PA and just needed my amp for on-stage monitoring, but I still had to haul a big (50lb) old school 350w head for most gigs without a PA.
I tried a Bose Packlite A1 power amp, but it didn't have the oomph despite allegedly being rated at 250w.
I call BS on those specs, the Crate was louder at it's 150w.
This MB200 though is freaking awesome.
Designed for bass, 200W of CLEAN power in a tiny package, and it doesn't cost a fortune like the EA mini or micro series, Walter Woods stuff, or Genz Benz shuttles. I generally run it off my Fishman platinum pre-amp just so I have tonal control easily at hand, but I'm starting to consider leaving that at home as well. The EQ on the MB200 is very solid, it's got an XLR output with switchable pre/post output, and Speakon or quarter inch power outputs.
It fits in the pouch of my upright bass bag and can serve as my primary amp for any gig I play that doesn't have PA support, and doesn't break the bank at just over a buck a watt.
What's not to love?

Genz Benz Shuttle STL6-0-12T Bass Amplifier Review

Ive played many combos, but this one is the best. The tone on the head is fantastic and the speaker is nice and light and portable. This combo is perfect for practice and small venues. Play in a louder band? Then pick up the matching extension cabinet and get the full 600 watts into a 2-112 setup. The Shuttle head is a very clean head, which can dial in just a bit of grunt. If you are looking for a crystal clear head, with a fantastic DI and a very good preamp section thats easy to carry around, this is it.

Eden E210C Edeb E-Series Bass Combo Amplifier Review

Eden E210C Edeb E-Series Bass Combo Amplifier

This unit sounded great at home and in low-volume settings. However after using it at a moderate-volume gig, it totally crapped out - the preamp appeared to fry itself and the unit became unusable meaning I had to run my bass through the PA system for the rest of the night. In my 30 years of playing, I've never had a bass amp just give out on me before, particularly one that was less than a month old. David Eden should be ashamed of having his name associated with such a piece of crap. Fortunately I purchased through Amazon.com and utilized their excellent return policy. I would not recommend this amp to anyone, pro or student, as there are MANY other choices in this price range.

Eden EX1128 EX Series Bass Cabinet Review

Eden EX1128 EX Series Bass Cabinet
Average Reviews:

I got this cabinet to play acoustic and low volume gigs, as well as for rehearsals. The sound is very much as described, though the speaker isn't very efficient--there's a noticeable drop in volume between the Eden and my EV. My amp is a 600w Genz Benz, which, even at 8 ohms, is a little much for this speaker, so it's probably better suited to a less powerful amp. Where it really excels is as an extension. With another speaker sharing the load, the Eden really fills out the sound.
My one big complaint is the placement of the handle. Having the handle at the back makes this 30 lb. cabinet feel heavier than it is because the weight shifts downward.
As I said, though, it's great for $250, though it's no substitute for a $700 Aguilar.

Eden EGRW264 Gig Ready Bass Amp Package Review

Eden EGRW264 Gig Ready Bass Amp Package

Amazing clarity and definition! This is the best sounding amp I've ever played through! The enhance knob is really the magic control. Turned to about the 7 position everything comes alive with only minor tweeking of the EQ. The punch and clarity of this amp & speaker combo is truly amazing! This amp and cab is to bass guitars what 1080p LED HD TVs are to television! It's like the difference between running a high performance exhaust system on your engine vs the factory stock system.
Everything on this amp & cab looks and feels high quality. It has every in/out connection you could ever want or need. It even has a knob to adjust the output of the DI.
The little 1x10 cab puts out an amazing amount of low end and high end clarity. It easily carries the low B string played open and moves a vast amount of air through its bottom port! I've only had this amp for about 5 weeks and have just been playing it at home so I don't know how it will preform in a band.
This rig will let you hear how good your bass really sounds. When I first tried this amp at a music store (Best Buy) I plugged a $130 Dean bass with passive pickups into it and the sound was incredible! I wasn't even looking for another amp but I knew I had to have this one!
OK now to best feature of all-- portability. To have an amp that sounds like this in such a small package is truly incredible! I have been playing bass for over thirty years and have had to lug around heavy and bulky bass amps & cabs. I had a back injury 15 years ago which made this task more difficult. So I have gravitated to smaller and lighter bass amps ever since. The technology today is truly amazing! I used to need a truck to haul my bass gear. This rig could almost be carried on a motorcycle! The head is very small and light. About 4 pounds. It comes with a good looking high quality gig bag. One complaint though is the amp has very sharp corners. The bag has an internal lining of smooth nylon. The fit is very tight which is good except there is a ripping sound when inserting the amp into the bag. Which is quite unnerving. My suggestion to Eden is to round the corners of the back of the amp to prevent tearing the inner lining of the bag.
I own Peavey and Roland bass amps which are great amps, especially in their price range but the Eden is a whole nother level. Again it gets back to clarity and definition. You can easily overdrive this amp to distortion as it produces a minimum of 260 watts. You can get a surprising amount of volume out of this amp but you must adjust the gain and master volume as well as the other controls to prevent distortion. It also has level & limit (clipping) LED lights to confirm what your ears are hearing. The owners manual which is a low budget affair recommends setting the gain so the level light flashes momentarily when you play hard.
I have played my Peavey Unity 4 string with passive PJ pickups. My Peavey Cirrus 5 string with active soap bars. My Conklin Bill Dickins model 7 string with active Bartolini soap bars and my Music Man Stingray fretless 4 string basses through it and they never sounded better!
