- The neck is make from Rock Maple. Generally grown in only cold climate. It is a very stable wood and perfect for a guitar neck. The neck is really easy to get your hands around.
- The body is made from maple and poplar. The center portion of the guitar body is maple and the outer wings are poplar. Poplar wood is a lighter wood which reduces the weight of the guitar making it more enjoyable to play. Compared to my "heavy" Les Paul, this is a big deal.
- Strap lock stems are standard on this guitar.
- Tuners turn smoothly and stay in tune.
- Pickups are very good. The bridge humbucker has great tones for lead guitar and the center and neck single coil pickups give this guitar a nice mix of tones.
- The bridge like the rest of the guitar have adjustments for height and intonation. The metal looks as if it is precision make for height and intonation adjustments.
- This guitar is totally under rated. Great bang for the buck. I own a USA Tele, USA Start and USA Les Paul and this guitar holds it's own. Even the deeply knurled knobs make my Strat and Les Paul look cheap.
- Finally I did need to adjust the height of the pickups to get the tone I wanted. For some reason the pickups are set very low from the strings. You simply hold the strings down on the last fret and adjust the clearance between the string and the pickup to what you desire. 1/16" is where I adjusted mine and it sounds soooo sweet!
- Although I love my telecaster the most, this guitar is like a combination of a Les Paul and a Strat. You can't go wrong buying it. I just don't know why you don't hear more about the Godin electric's.

The SD 22 combines the easy feel of a short scale with the added snap of a rock maple neck. The short scale reduces string tension, which provides easy string bending and augments the low frequency response. The compact feel of the neck and the diagonal radius carved into the body produces exceptional balance and comfort. In short, this guitar is fun to play, and lends itself to classic rock and R&B sounds.

Maple and Poplar Body
The SD 22 is constructed with a blend of two tonewoods. A center of silver leaf maple serves as an anchor for the neck and is flanked by poplar sidepieces, resulting in Godin's stated goal of making electrics that begin with a great acoustic sound. Solid body instruments may not produce much in the way of volume, but make no mistake, wood weight and density, type (and quality) of the neck/body attachment, type of bridge and nut material all have an impact on that final sound.
One Godin GHB1 humbucker and two Godin GS1 single-coil pickups, along with a five-way switch for serious tonal options.
