(More customer reviews)When I was looking for a new tenor uke I wasn't planning to purchase this one at all. I had my sights set on another, cheaper model but I when I went into a store called "The Guitar Shop" and saw it, it immediately began to persuade me to buy it. It was probably the price that was the biggest factor. I know how much it is online and the store was selling it for $253CDN. I couldn't pass that up.
The Pros: It sounds really, really nice. The strings that come with it are pretty good (Aquila) and I didn't have to buy new ones. The colour and feel of the uke are also quite nice but I do kind of like the mid-range Fender better style-wise.
The Cons: I've had major problems with this uke but after they were all fixed it finally became something I liked. Within the first month it had become cracked in three points on the back. I hadn't moved it in and out of the cold and although I don't have a humidifier, kept it in an environment that wasn't too dry. My other ukes and guitars are just fine but this one cracked. Also within the first two months the built-in pickup broke. I didn't ever use it but it became loose and the wires inside had disconnected. I was so frustrated.
Eventually I got it all fixed and haven't had a problem since. So for now, I'm loving it. Only time will tell if more is to happen.
I hear that the neck may start cracking where it meets the body. It is Fender's first go with ukes. Hopefully they will release a better made line in the future that sounds just as good.
