Squier by Fender Standard Telecaster, Antique Burst Review

I've owned and played some extremely nice guitars over the years. I had never even played a Squire before, so I really didn't know what to expect from Fender's cheaper cousin... However, after the guitar arrived and I stretched out the strings enough for it to stay in tune, I was pretty blown away that you could get such a nice guitar for $229 and free shipping.
Everything about the guitar is pretty awesome. It looks and plays better than it has any right to. I can't speak for any of the other Squire models, but this thing is a steal. I really wouldn't feel bad having this as my main guitar. The sound is great and it's easy to play.

Squier by Fender Classic Vibe Stratocaster 50s, Olympic White Review

This is a beautiful instrument combining classic Fender quality with Squier's budget friendly price. The guitar was ready to play right out of the box, no need to tweak it with a professional setup. It did require a minor string height adjustment a week or so later due to temperature and humidity changes, but this was easily accomplished by raising the action slightly at the bridge utilizing the tiny allen wrench included with the guitar. The maple neck is fast and smooth - feels like melted butter, the intonation is right on target, and the 5 way pick-up switch provides a variety of tonal qualities to accommodate styles from Rock to Blues and Jazz. I am a serious hobbyist and bought this guitar to add to a small collection. I am delighted with it and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a guitar with the renowned qualities of a Fender Stratocaster, but at a much more affordable price.

Squier by Fender Standard Telecaster, Vintage Blonde Review

The photo makes it seem like you can see the grain through the finish, however it is an opaque finish that is more yellow than the photo. It also weighed a ton. Three stars is an average rating and not a bad rating. I have other Squire telecasters so I have nothing against the name.
The neck felt ok and the finish was fine. I didn't search hard for flaws before sending it back, but I didn't see any glaring flaws either. My main issues were the extreme weight and the discrepancy between the finish in the product photo and the actual guitar.

Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar Olympic Pearl Maple Neck Review

Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar Olympic Pearl Maple Neck

I have a handful of guitars in my arsenal and this one is my absolute favourite. I bought mine with a rosewood neck and it has the best feel and playability of any electric guitar I've played. The body is solid alder, finished with a beautiful "cherryburst" finish. I can sometimes look at my acoustic guitars and they will go out of tune, but this guitar will stay tuned for days, even with me bending notes and finger plucking the strings. It has a pretty pearloid pickguard which complements the sweet color of the alder body. The samarian cobalt pickups are as quiet as a church mouse when the guitar is idle but cry and sing when the Tele is being played. One of the really cool things about this guitar is the "S-1 switch", which is a button on the volume knob. When the pickup selector is in the middle (activating the bridge and the neck pickups) and the "S-1 switch" button is pushed down, it changes the pickup circuit from parallel to series, resulting in a fat, Les Paul-like sound. The back of the body is "scalloped" so it is perfect to play either sitting down or standing up, which makes it a pleasure to use in both the studio and when playing live. This guitar is made in the U.S.A. at the Fender factory in Corona, CA. It is a lifetime instrument, something you'll be able to pass on to future generations.

Fender American Vintage Series '52 Telecaster Electric Guitar Butterscotch Blonde Review

By far one of the best guitars I've ever played. The solid ash body with the thin finish allows for a great tone, even without being plugged in. Try this with a standard stratocaster and you can hear the difference. I think the U-shaped neck plays a little faster. The package comes with the vintage hard case, strap, cables and the ashtray bridge cover. This is the guitar Leo Fender perfected in 1952, nuff said.

Squier by Fender Vintage Modified Tele SH, Metallic Red Review

My mother got this for me when I started guitar, I loved it imediately! It has a humbucker (top pickup), which is great for a les paul sound, like Jimmy Page, Angus Young, and other rockers. The single coil (back pickup) is a monster. It dominates the blues, like muddy waters, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and son house. This is a starter guitar, but works well, especially if you replace the strings with some super slinky's. I love it. (but save your money for a Gibson if you get really serious, like after a couple of years)

Squier by Fender Vintage Modified Tele Custom II, Black Review

This guitar has an amazing sound and great features, regardless of its price! I would give it five stars, but the neck when I got it had horrible fretwork. The ends were rounded nicely, but the tops were not level, and I had to take it to a luthier to get it up to speed. Having said that, after $80 worth of work, it feels and sounds as good as any $600 - $700 guitar! Usually when I buy a guitar in this price range, the first thing I do is to ditch the stock pickups and tuners, and here I was pleasantly surprised.
The Pickups are, in a word, amazing. Buttery, rich and punchy with just the right hint of chime. I've previously owned a Gibson reissue Melody Maker with the stock dogear p-90. That was brighter and a bit harsher. A little more punk rock, if you will. This guitar is a more versatile animal, and almost certainly more of a crowd pleaser. They're wound a bit on the hot side, I'd guess the bridge is somewhere close to 11k, but with more complexity than some of the crazy output import stuff I've seen. They can pull off country twang, surf cleans, rockabilly clank, and classic rock with ease.
The tuners hold well, the finish is nice, the bridge is on the cheap side, but it has held adjustment. Electronics seem to be solid, with no more noise than one would expect from single coil pickups.
The neck is a bit of a mixed bag, however. The neck contour is the modern tele soft "C" profile. I usually go for a chunkier neck, but haven't found this one to be uncomfortable. It has 22 frets, with the fretboard extending over the body (unlike the usual tele 21). The drag was the fretwork. Uneven spots were all over the place, in an almost checkerboard pattern. Adjusting it out was fairly useless. Because the guitar was new, there was plenty of room to file, so I had it fixed instead of returning it. My luthier estimated that he filed anywhere between 30-40% of the material off of the highest frets!
Overall, I'm thrilled with this guitar, especially now that I've got the frets fixed. I'm seriously considering buying another to put a bigsby bar on. This is a pro guitar at a pawnshop price!
