Schertler DYN-V for Violin and Viola Review

Schertler DYN-V for Violin and Viola

I am one of those people who always tries to find a deal. Why pay this amount for name brand when you can get the generic same much less. I've had to learn that in the case of sound equipment, you get what you pay for (for the most part).
Our fiddler needed a pick up and she didnt want one that effected or modified her fiddle in any way. Didnt want to cut any notches into the bridge, etc. She found this picked and when I saw the price, I was put off. Finally, the band caved in and loaned the money for her to get it.
I will say I'm very impressed. The sound is beautiful, we haven't had issues with feedback. It WILL take a little playing around with to find the right place on YOUR fiddle that sounds best. The first time she put it on in the middle of the body, the sound was very hollow. She's played around and found a great sounding spot.
We also bought a pre-amp just to give it that extra head room. If you have the money, buy this pickup.

Fishman Aura Ellipse - Wide Review

Fishman Aura Ellipse - Wide

Hopefully what I am about to say helps someone make a decision about the Fishman Aura Ellipse. I don't have enough adjective's to express how impressed I am.
I have tried several different types to include Dual Source with a Mic and even though this one does not have a Mic the software from Fishman more than compensates for one. You can load any number of microphone makes into the Aura Ellipse and then cycle through to find the one that makes your guitar sound as though you had a lot of stage equipment. When I say you can load any number of mic makes that is true, but only 4 at a time. That has not been a problem for me because I take a couple of days with each load and then I have listed the ones I prefer. The software allows you to print your loads so you always know what you are playing.
Very easy to install and operate. Just make sure which pick-up you need...1/8" or 3/32" under-saddle.
As I continue to use this I will give another update if I find it less than I have indicated.
Happy Playing

This set is not not just some great pickups, but what you can do with the "eq's" is great! You can make your guitar sound very clean, bright but with round bass. Then you turn up the middle with distortion, and it sounds unbelievable strong, jump out any gig or mix!

EMG KH21 Kirk Hammett Active Pickup Set with Pickguard Review

EMG KH21 Kirk Hammett Active Pickup Set with Pickguard

This is the by far the best pickup set I have ever seen or played. The ease of installation is great. I had to rout out some of my body and had to solder the plug in jack, but it was easy (I am mechanically inclined so that helped). The sound is awesome, I love the 3 position switch, seperate volumes for each pickup and the tone. You can play both pickups and then adjust the volume so that you get more from one pickup or the other and then adjust the tone as you see fit. Possibility's are endless. My Fender HSS is a totally different and 100% better looking and sounding guitar. I went to Musicians' Friend and found the matching cover for the back of the my guitar. My Strat is Vintage Red Wind so this looks awesome on it.......I wish that I could find a black whammy bar to match the pickups and the look would be complete......Great job EMG and thanks to Amazon.com I saved over 20 bucks compared to Musician's Friend and it was delivered to my front door in about 5 days. Awesome deal.......

I recently bout a epiphone les paul with a floyd ,from the time i picked it up in the srore , i had to have it . However the pickups sounded flat, while browsing these pickups shopwed up at 214.00 ? What a steal ! Upon installing them , from the first chord i couldnt believe how full ,and natural these pickups sound , Ive always played with alot of gain till now ,its actually changed my playing style . Hearing the full body of the les paul is a wonderfull experience .

Fishman Ellipse Matrix Blend w/ Wide Undersaddle Pickup Review

I love this pick up! It sounds great and the microphone is a wonder change! Nothing negative to say! We play Contemporary Christian music. Put this into an Epiphone Jumbo. Installation was not too difficult. Did it myself. Had to drill the hole at the strap button a little larger. I made very little change to my saddle to adjust string height and had to drill a small hole in the bridge.

Seymour Duncan SA-6 Mag Mic Active Acoustic Guitar Pickup Review

Seymour Duncan SA-6 Mag Mic Active Acoustic Guitar Pickup

I have a Martin acoustic guitar without a built in amplifier. There are times it's needed and started researching new or used acoustic/electric guitars. A few things happened. 1) Couldn't find a guitar that sounded as good as my Martin 2) The price of a new guitar was beyond what I was willing to pay and 3) I didn't want to have two guitars. So...what to do. Heard about sound hole amps and started researching. Bought a name brand at a guitar store and just didn't like the sound. Research and reviews led me to this Seymour Duncan SA-6. Didn't like the price and no discounts anywhere. Finally decided to give it a try through Amazon to save taxes and free shipping. Have not been disappointed. Easy to install. I did not install permanently to the pick up jack so I can remove it later. It's a little unhandy with the cords from the sound hole, but routed to my guitar strap and not a big deal. I play using a Roland AC-33 Acoustic Amp and like the sound. I am not a professional player and mostly play for my own enjoyment, with friends and occasional coffee house. Perhaps there are better sound hole amps, but for about $225 this works very well for me and I now only need one guitar. There are individual string adjustments that I don't use. I like the two volume adjustment on the sound hole without having to go back to the amp. If you're looking for a sound hole amp, give the Seymour Duncan SA-6 a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
