Not only do these Broadkaster basses LOOK cool, but they sound great too. When I play mine, I like to pull out some old Beatles CD's and play along. While Paul played a Hofner, this hollow-body Broadkaster nails that same vibe and brings a smile to my face. Doesn't pump out the same volume that a Precision or Jazz does, but that's easily remedied by boosting the volume on your amp. I've had no problems with feedback, which can often occur with a hollow-bodied instrument.
This is a short-scale bass (30.3" scale rather than the "traditional" 34"). It doesn't LOOK like a short-scale because of the big body. But it does take a little getting used to because the frets are closer together. Mine is the Walnut Stain model, just like the one shown here. It looks great, and brings to mind George Harrison's Gretsch guitar from the early Beatles period. One of the guitar players in my band is a Beatles/George Harrison nut, and he loved this bass when he saw and heard it. If money isn't a major issue (it IS pretty expensive), it's a great addition to a bass player's arsenal.
