(More customer reviews)I own two of these subs and are MORE than satisfied! The bass is tight and punchy, but they can go low if you want them to. Make sure you use a crossover with a 24db slope and a good sound processor. I use a Behringer DSP 1424P sound enhancer and a BBE Max X3 crossover...GREAT SOUND!!!!!!!! Also the JRX118S has a 4ohm impedance, so make sure your amp is stable at 4ohms stereo. If are using one amp and are running two subs on one channel and your full range speakers on the other, make sure that your amp is stable at 2ohms. I recommend QSC amps!! These subs are complete over-achievers for the price!!!!!!

Mackie SRM1801 18-inch 1000W Powered Subwoofer Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased these 8 months ago instead of the QSC KW181 because they were 1/2 the price (bad choice). When I first used them they rocked! The QSC still held a slight edge with it's sound and power but for the price I figured I could later buy a second pair. They were commplimented by one QSC K12 each on top. However over the last 2 or 3 months they seemed to be losing some of their power but then I thought it might be all in my mind or just maybe my EQ setup. Well about 2 wks ago, one side (or both sides) started to go in and out at times. It never seemed to go out when I stood in front but from back I would hear a bass beat miss here and there. Then it seemed to miss more bass beats. Suddenly the left speaker went completely out. Power on but no sound. 2 nights later the other one went out. No power, no lights, nothin'. Over the 8 months, I did, from time to time quickly push them to their highest volume & then quickly trim down to avoid clipping but by no means left at clipping levels for any extended length of time. In fact the last few months (when I thought they were losing their power) I would only use at half power or less as they seemed to be getting close to clipping a lower volumes. On the last night when the second Mackie died, I ran a QSC (I bought as replacement for the 1st one) and the other Mackie on the other side at 1/4 level. The QSC was picking up the slack but the Mackie still died at such a low level. It never clipped, just died. Neither sounded distorted before dying. I've since sent them both out for repairs & have bought a second QSC KW181. So far I like what I'm hearing. I haven't yet gotten close to clipping levels. Like they say, "You get what you pay for" Now I don't know what I will do with the Mackie's once I get them back because I just don't trust them anymore. I still have 1yr & 4 months of pro coverage extended warranty. Guess I can have them as back up but then the purchased warranty would have been a waste of money.

Mackie Thump TH-15A 2-Way Powered Loudspeaker (Single Speaker) Review

(More customer reviews)These speakers are clean, clear powerful. Very tight and clean bass (no low end "mud". The speakers have a very useable eq section. They have low impedence in and outs that make joining two or more of these (or other active speakers) as easy as plugging in another low impedence mic cable and going to another speaker. This keeps the signal clean and you don't need to utilize additional outputs on your mixer.
The sound is great. I have owned a pair of Behringer (B212) active speakers and a JBL 15 inch speaker in a cabinet driven by a QSC amp for a few years and have generally been pleased with the sound but I was looking for more natural, punchier low end (and I hate lugging the very heavy QSC amp). These Mackie speakers have the sound I was looking for and are actually lighter than my smaller Behringer speakers. I am now useing the Behringers on stands with the Mackies on the floor (I leave the QSC and JBL cab home). It is a very big sound.
Note: After I bought one of these to try, I had trouble getting a second one. Everbody I contacted from Musicinsfriend, Sweetwater and Guitar Center, were all out out of stock and waiting for backorders. Don't be surprised if you hear this when buying these. They are currently a very in demand item. The price on these does not vary much and $350.00 is the going price across the board.

Mackie SRM450V2 12" 2-way Compact SR Loudspeaker BLACK (Single Speaker) Review

(More customer reviews)I own many sets of the "Italian rcf" srm 450's and the subs, I have had in the past some woofer magnet issues, but overall the older versions are much better, and much better sounding. These newer version 2 lesser quality. Sound does not match with the older versions.
Deeper bass, and clear mid-range, have been replaced with cheapened woofer, and cheaper amp. Loud technologies will tell you it's an acoustic match sound wise, this of course is nonsense. Cheaper speakers, and cheaper amps sound the same as Greg Mackies original design?
The older 450's will throw better, and have less distortion than these cheapened versions. Google most reviews of the newer Chinese made 450's, and you will see more negative reviews. When I needed more for my business, I purchased a set, a week later they went back.
Just to be clear about the sound, I run a Rane board, and dj with lossless files.
