(More customer reviews)Well, I had to wait about 3 weeks for this to arrive, since I live outside the US. It came all the way to Venezuela and when I opened up the box I must say I was really impressed with the beauty of this guitar. Really, as other say, pictures can't compare to the real thing. Also the nickel covered pick ups look real good. So after unboxing the guitar, I plugged it in my also new korg pitchblack (excellent tuner btw) and I tuned the guitar, surprisingly enough the guitar was very well set up, action was great, not too low nor too high, no fret buzz, just excellent. Also, considering this guitar traveled all the way from the US, the intonation was really good. It's almost perfect, for instance, the open notes are the same as the 12th fret and ALL of the frets are in tune so this guitar is well designed and manufactured. About the sound, to be honest I can't compare with a standard strat since this is my first fender guitar, but the pickups sound really good. I play pop-rock with some punk styles and the sound I get from this guitar goes really well with that style. All of the 5-way switch positions are silent which is great, I've seen strat with single coils get really noisy.
The fretboard is rosewood and plays great. I like it a lot. The guitar stays in tune after stretching out the strings, so far everything is great!
Most people complain about the knobs on this guitar, since those are huge fat skirted amp knobs, but they don't look so bad at all, I kinda like them. The only thing I could complain about is the bridge. It's an ok bridge, but the saddles make palm-muting so unconfortable, also the volume knob can get in the way depending on your playing style (switching to another kind of knobs may help with that issue). Everything else it's just great about this guitar. I couldn't ask for more with a price this low. You should definitely buy this guitar if you're a fender fan like I am or if you need a great guitar for such a low price! It's a steal, really!
On a side note, I received it on a Thursday and I had to perform with my band on the next day.. Needless to say I took this guitar because it was perfectly set up when it arrived. Of course the guitar played really great! Thanks Fender!
