Fishman PRO-LBX-300 Loudbox Performer Acoustic Combo Amp Review

I bought the Loudbox performer rather than the smaller model because as a cellist I wanted the extra speaker capacity. I'd received several personal recommendations about the quality of Fishman products, and after trying one out at Dusty Strings I was satisfied that it lived up to its reputation. I purchased the Loudbox in March 2010 and used it occasionally at small gigs and a few rehearsals. Good sound, I was happy.
About 5 weeks ago I switched it on, smelled a bad smell, and the amp was dead, no output of any sort. Called support who quickly analyzed the problem as worse than just a bad power supply, and said I had to ship it back to them, at my expense, and they'd fix it and ship it back no charge because I'm under warranty. Initially their support guy promised to get it back to me asap.
Now I'm out over $70 shipping and Fishman has had the amp for 4 weeks and I haven't heard from them in something like 3 weeks. Chalk it up to busy holiday season, but still. This is not what I paid for, and this poor service and reliability experience is what I'll say if anyone asks me about my amp. Assuming I get it back at some point.

NS Design CR6 Cello Review

NS Design CR6 Cello

The 6 string NS is quite an amazing instrument. Even when it is not plugged in it has a great cello sound. There is a learning curve to play it but it offers the electric cellist a sleek, portable, cello sounding option. The only questionable detail is the bag that comes with the stand in it. Putting such heavy equipment right on (with just the cloth of the bag between them) the cello itself seems chancy.
