Line 6 Variax 700 Guitar, Sunburst Tremolo Review

Line 6 Variax 700 Guitar, Sunburst Tremolo
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Back in 2002, I bought the original Variax. Sonically, it was a great guitar. It had a sorta "cheap" look to it, but it was a nice instrument. I recorded one song with it before I sold it and bought a Godin LGXT.
Fast-forward to today. I recently decided that I (again) needed the versatility that the Variax offered. I decided to buy the best Variax Line 6 offered (the 700 with trem), both for aesthetics and for features and construction. The only thing left was deciding which color. The cherry sunburst was the prettiest.
I bought my Variax from Amazon.com. This is the first time I've ever bought an instrument from Amazon. They were the only ones carrying the Variax 700 cherry sunburst. I glad I bought it! Very inspiring. Extremely versatile. It's a very comfortable guitar to wear. It has a great Strat-like feel to it. Dial in one of the Strat selections, close your eyes, and you'll swear you're playing a Strat.
I realize that there are guitar snobs in the world who will claim they can tell the difference between, say, the Variax's Les Paul settings and a real Les Paul. Or the Variax's Strat settings and a real Strat. They're full of it. Close your eyes and you cannot tell. I made a recording of my Fender acoustic guitar and the Variax's "parlor" acoustic guitar settings. Guess which guitar everyone guessed was the real acoustic? You got it. The Variax's parlor guitar. Two long-time guitarists who should know the difference could not tell. My sister could not tell. My friends could not tell. They all picked the Variax as the "real" guitar. So, I'll say it again: anyone who claims that their highly-trained ear can distinguish the Variax from the "real" thing lives in a fantasy world. I've owned and played a very good Les Paul. I've owned and played a beautiful Strat. I had those instruments for years. The Variax really does faithfully mimic the guitars it models.
Get the Workbench software! If for no other reason, you can adjust the output of the various guitar models. For instance, Line 6 faithfully modeled the Strat, even its relative volume. The Les Paul pickup models are noticeably hotter. So I used Workbench software to bring the volume of the Strat pickup models to be equal with the output of the Les Paul pickup models. Problem solved! You can adjust all kinds of things using the Workbench software. If you have a PODxt Live (floor model), or the new POD X3 Live (when they're available), you can download the Workbench software for free from Line 6. If you don't have one of those, then you can buy the USB interface gadget from Line 6, which comes with Workbench. It is worth buying if you have to buy it (I think $99). Line 6 Variax Workbench 1.5

I like this product, i checked this product as recommened by the professionals its great, clear, reliable.
Its amazingly easy to configure, in a few seconds believe me 5-seconds and your set to rock. it begins by connecting via infrared then the wireless radio connection takes place.
I took my guitar to the last end of the house and still rocking no weak singals, i trusted the recommendations and i believe them now, auto channel search and auto connect..
When you cant connect and the light goes orange, it means change the batteries as simple as that, it was not specified though but i discovered it :)
Thanks

When i saw this amp for very first time, i didnt believe the awesome that it is and i was worry about its watts to perform with my band. Im using it to perform @ live with my band jejej. I get the loud enough to play next to the drums. The sound is just tube sound with solidstate volume power. Its lightweight. The reverb is digital and not good enough but is not a major issue when you are looking for a Vox amp, Vox is all about the tone. In overall im in love with this amp. If i get some money y will get de AC30 VR too. Enjoy it

Line 6 JM4 Looper Review

Line 6 JM4 Looper
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This thing has some cool features, but a lot of junky ones. I was hoping they would keep a continuance of downloadable tracks, but they don't. I dig jazz, but there are only two jazz tracks and a large assortment of rock or metal tracks, all very bland and unexciting. The biggest problem, is that if you get your presets just right, and then switch tracks, it alters your guitar tone to fit the song, so you have to redial your guitar in, might not be a problem if you just want to fit in with them, but if you have a hollowbody hooked up and it switches to Insane Metal your amp is trashed! I suppose you could save your presets, but you should be able to set it and forget it without turning features off.
The record sound is attrocious too. I have saved several tracks to the sd card and transfered them as waves to my ipod, they sound horrible: muffled, undynamic. I know its not a four track, but it acts like one so should function like one too. Could probably do better with a tape recorder.
The pitch and tempo changes don't work either. They say it doesn't alter the tone, but they are lying. The drums take a digital stretched sound if you alter the tempo.

I bought this Dean Tennessee A Style Acoustic Electric Mandolin. It is my first Mandolin. I've been playing guitar for 35 years and wanted to try something different. So far, I love it. It is tuned like a violin and is easy to learn. I consider it a good purchase for a beginner. I haven't encountered any problems so far. It sounds great when plugged into my Line 6 amp. It also sounds great as an acoustic. I highly recommend it.

Just to anyone who's looking at this, The G6120SSU model number indicates a urithane finish, not a laquer finish. The laquer finish model number is G6120SSL for the tiger stripped version and the usual price is $3100. If you buy this one, make sure you verify which one is being sent. I don't have an opinion on weather a laquer finish is any better then a urithane finish, but I would love the guitar either way!!!

i'm amazed by this instrument. the burst is much darker than shown on the photos, and that's a really good thing (it actually matches my epiphone les paul's colour!)
This thing sounds really great, and it's got a WHOLE LOT of volume! my parents tell me i have to go upstairs because of the volume!
there are absolutely no drawbacks on this thing!
if this thing was stolen, i would buy it again! and kill the person who stole it XD! nah, just kidding... ;)
i wouldn't get a backup for this thing. it feels rock-solid (when considering it's a hollow-body). but if i had to have a backup, i'd just order one more of these :D
Cheers!

Schecter Diamond-J Electric Bass (3-Tone Sunburst)

very pleased with this recent arrival. finish is flawless, heft is good and nicely balanced, and neck is thick in the j bass style with the much preferred maple fretboard. pups produce a nice variety of tones, especially using the neck side pumping out loads of rich bottom. action is outstanding- had to raise the g just slightly to elimate some buzz but that's it. no sunburst on the back but who cares? strings are d'addario round wounds, pick-ups are passive like i like it, and neck is absolutely straight. made in china, not korea like earlier models. couldn't ask for more in this price range (not a return or second).

Fender American Vintage Series '52 Telecaster Electric Guitar Butterscotch Blonde

By far one of the best guitars I've ever played. The solid ash body with the thin finish allows for a great tone, even without being plugged in. Try this with a standard stratocaster and you can hear the difference. I think the U-shaped neck plays a little faster. The package comes with the vintage hard case, strap, cables and the ashtray bridge cover. This is the guitar Leo Fender perfected in 1952, nuff said.

Seagull Entourage Rustic CW QIT Acoustic-Electric Guitar Rustic Review

Seagull Entourage Rustic CW QIT Acoustic-Electric Guitar Rustic
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I won't lie to you, I'm a Seagull guy. I went in looking for a great guitar at a great price, and while I was open to veer away from my coveted Seagull-made guitars if the right deal were to be available, I simply couldn't do it. I tried out a bunch of different guitars in my price range, and the Seagull Entourage Rustic CW QI(T) won, hands down. First of all, the tuning machines are basically the solid chrome Ping tuning machine heads disguised with Seagull logos. I love this because I am very picky about my tuning machines and often swap out my guitars' machine heads for said Ping parts. Next, the nut width of the neck is narrower than the standard Seagull nut width, which makes it more comparable to a Martin or Taylor or something of that nature. This makes the transition for a non-Seagull acoustic player a little smoother. Third, the action is comfortable, but not too comfortable. If the action is too low and too easy to push down, sound is compromised, this is not so here. I believe this is the softest action a guitar can have without taking away from the sound or causing buzzing or things of that nature. The Godin electronics are flawless, and sleekly designed. As in the "Rustic" name, even the electronics stay true to this look, and the style and functionality are both top of the line. This is one of the few (if not only) Seagull in this price range with a cutaway, and that is important because it allows for more flexibility and mobility on the neck for those who like to utilize every available fret on the guitar. The overall look is nice. At first, I thought the sunburst was a little too much, but after a couple hours of staring at it, I have grown to love it. Finally the most important thing about this guitar is the sound. The guitar possesses a very full, vibrant, diverse sound. There is a slight twang in the timbre, but it is not overbearing, leaving for a warm and perfect acoustic sound for almost any style or application. I do not believe a better guitar can be bought for this price, but I must point out the negative. As with my old Seagull, the wood feels rather soft, so with some ruckus playing and misguided strumming, the wood can wear away and damage the surface more easily than other guitars. This is a small price to pay for an otherwise very powerful acoustic-electric package. Besides, I like when my guitars get that worn-in look, so this is not at all a negative for me personally. I would recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a guitar as in such a short time; it has grown so dear to my heart.

Dean Hillsboro Jazz Electric Bass, Transparent Black Review

Dean Hillsboro Jazz Electric Bass, Transparent Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The sound in this bass is perfect. the strings it comes with it has a great durability and you will not have to worry about getting new ones in a long time. This bass beats the fender's jazz bases by the sound it gives to you and to the audience and this will give you a better impression by the design and confterablilty you'll get when you are playing it. The exception of all the great things in this bass is where you insert the amp cable. It is very easy to break it and you'll have to repair several times if you are not careful with it but when it is delivered to you'll be amazed as I did when i first got it and started playing and you will not regret paying for those $300. The color is just beautiful and specially with the white design on top of the body.

Great Bass for great price!I have been playing bass for 30 years and have owned very expensive basses in the past. When I first played Shecter basses, I couldn't believe the quality of the instrument for its price. The Shecter jazz bass gives me all the tones I need but for 1/4 of the price that other basses would cost. In our current economy, trying to raise a family and make ends meet, Shecter is the way to go for an active musician on a budget

Steinberger Spirit GT-Pro Standard Electric Guitar White Review

Steinberger Spirit GT-Pro Standard Electric Guitar White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own 2 of these, one a Deluxe, and one a Standard. These are fine guitars for the money, with some amazing features. They can cover all the basics, have good sustain, stay in tune very well, and are awesomely comfortable to play, sitting or standing (or jumping). I like them so much I'm thinking of getting another to replace one I've been using for 9 years now.
There's nothing like a headless, almost bodyless guitar -- it seems like it would feel weird, but after an hour or two, you're used to it and soon, you'll wish all your guitars were headless.
But the headless, minimalist shape is so amazingly comfortable, so well balanced! These guitars are all maple, with a one-piece thru-body neck. They're solidly built and have a bright, Fender-ish tone. The pickups aren't amazing, but they are easy to replace -- on any guitar in this price range, you can't expect much for pickups and wiring, but if you're not picky, these are fine. If you are picky, they're easily replaced.
The zero fret probably helps its sustain, which is quite good, and the open strings sound better to me than guitars with a normal nut instead of the zero fret. The guitar has 24 frets, making it a 2-octave fingerboard, and it's scale length is close to or equal to a Stratocaster, which contributes to a bright tone with plenty of harmonics. The vibrato bridge has a locking feature that lets you disable the whammy, and that really comes in handy on a gig if you break a string mid-song.
One drawback to these things is that they use non-standard parts, and you just can't get replacement parts for the bridge. Any guitar bridge with a whammy might wear out, if you use it heavily as I've done with mine, but with other guitars, you have lots of choices for replacement bridges. With these, you get almost no choices, and none that are easy to find. That's why I'm keeping a watch on these and buying another when I can -- this guitar is too awesome, and a really good value.
The rest of the guitar has held up wonderfully over the past decade. Neck is in good shape, frets are fine, paint job still good, tone remains awesome. I use it with a Roland VG system, and it's just fabulous. I can't praise this cheap little Steinberger "boat oar" enough.
UPDATE, August 2011: I still play this as my main guitar, and I still love it. The whammy bridge is getting a bit 'knocky' (makes a slight knock sound when I use the bar) but I don't use whammy much at all because I have electronic gadgets for that. I'm using this guitar for mad science experiments now, and I took out all its electronics yesterday. I was impressed with the build quality inside it, actually. The pickups were well potted, and the single coil had a foam pad beneath it so it wouldn't vibrate against the body. Wires were strong and well soldered, and the input jack was a sealed, threaded barrel unit. Right now, it has only the Roland GK pickup on it, and it's even lighter, and feels and sounds great.

I cannot thank the guys at Kraft enough for the fantastic service they provided when I bought this guitar. And the effort they went to in helping me out was extreme. To say I love this guitar is an understatement. It damn near plays itself and my playing has improved out of site since I took delivery. I could not believe when I plugged it into my Marshall amp that there was nothing but silence until I started to play. Other guitars have given me small, but noticeable, feedback but his beauty was absolutely silent. Playability is supreme, in fact I picked up a "deluxe" Start the other day and it came nowhere near offering the ease of which this baby allows you to play. I was lucky enough to pick up the last one in the shop and I see there are a few still kicking around but I would recommend if you are looking to buy A Clapton Strat you act swiftly because they do not stay on the shelves for very long.

This is the my fourth lifetime guitar lol. Im 20 and have been playing for about 7 years. I had a Les Paul that i paid around 1299 for and it was nothing in comparison. This is without a doubt the finest instrument that i have owned. Once i got it in tune i'd say it lasted 3 times longer than the Gibson did before i had to do it again. Its a fine instrument and its a must from the experienced player on down to those who are just becoming interested in music. 6/5 stars. Is'nt it time to get your Wings, Dean for life.
