I think Yamaha Pacifica 112v is the best inexpensive Strat-type guitar in the market. I find Pacifica 112V even better than mexican made strats. The bridge humbucker is pretty powerful and can be used for hard rock/metal tones with lots of distortion. The build quality is very good as well. Stays in tune for weeks!

Taylor Guitars 815ce Jumbo Acoustic Electric Guitar Review

The guitar is amazing and buying it from amazon.com is cheaper than from Guitar Center and it arrived in 4 business days (6 days total). Note: the version pictured is not the one that gets sent. The one that gets sent is the current version of the 815ce that is on the Taylor website and has a Florentine cutaway (sharp and pointy) rather than the Venetian cutaway pictured. I wasn't sure I would like the Florentine based on the pictures, but seeing it in person, I am really glad I went w/this version.

DigiTech JMD Bass Pedal Tuner, Blue Review

DigiTech JMD Bass Pedal Tuner, Blue
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I will start by saying that this is the first looper and delay that I have ever owned. I am not an expert and although I have been playing guitar for 15+ years, I have only recently started experimenting with effects pedals.
Insofar as ease of use goes, I found this pedal to be pretty easy to use once I read through the manual. The biggest learning curve comes to figuring out the timing when recording a loop. Regardless of what looper you get, you will need to fine tune your timing to get it to do what you want.
Overall the unit construction seems very solid. 99 loops is more than enough but there is the option to expand to 198 with an SDHC card which is quite nice.
Lastly, the delay function is easy to use and can be synched with your loops at the same tempo making it even more useful in my opinion.
I love the product and would buy it again if I had to. Great if you don't get the opportunity to play with people to often and really solid as a practice tool.

Line 6 Spider II 112 Guitar Amp - Black (2185756) Review

Line 6 Spider II 112 Guitar Amp - Black (2185756)
Average Reviews:

For those of you metal heads out there!!!! This is for you!!! Just add this to a top of the line Jackson and you'll be headbangin' in no time.
This is a one of a kind Amp. The damn thing is pretty heavy, but the quality that its Celestion (yes, I said Celestion) speaker produces makes you forget it was ever painful in the first place. The amp includes 7 digital effects of which 3 can be played simaltaneously and 12 different amp models from different eras of music.
My personal favorite is "Insane" for it produces the greatest distortion I've ever heard. For you true metalheads, this one's for you!!!! \m/ Rock on \m/

Ibanez Soundgear SR300 Bass Guitar - Roadster Orange Metallic Review

Ibanez Soundgear SR300 Bass Guitar - Roadster Orange Metallic
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I simply cannot figure out how Ibanez puts out a bass of this quality for such a low price.
A little fiddling right out of the box got the action low and smooth. The shape of the neck makes playing effortless. The 3 band onboard eq dials in almost any sound you need without having to go back and fiddle with the amp. The Roadster Orange finish is so much better in person than in the photos, the active pickups sound wonderful, and, a boon to all us gigging musicians, it's light.
I started playing bass in High School. I'm 51 now, and have owned almost every type of bass at one point or another. P Bass, couple of Jazz Basses, Yamahas, Peaveys, A Gibson, couple other Ibanez's, and this is the one I'm sticking with.
For a decade the Jazz Bass was my main stage axe, and I used to carry a phony Hofner as a backup. I'd usually pick it up somewhere in the second set to give my shoulder a break. I am seriously considering buying another one of these for my backup and leaving everything else at home.
For us working class players who simply can't afford a Ric 4003 or the Alembic of their dreams, this bass will fill the bill. At this price, you simply can't go wrong.

Blueridge BR-183 Historic Premium East Indian RoseWood 000 Guitar with Abalone Purfling Review

Blueridge BR-183 Historic Premium East Indian RoseWood 000 Guitar with Abalone Purfling
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've owned my BR-183 for at least four years. It is still the favorite performing instrument of my bandmates, despite its smaller size and more intimate tone-- it is preferred over, for example, a top-end Taylor Grand Symphony Koa and a handmade mid-70s Brazilian Rosewood LoPrinzi dreadnought.
The fit and finish on this instrument is top-flight. Out of the case, it had a surprisingly full tone, and over the years of intensive playing and performance, it has only improved in tone. Intonation is excellent up and down the neck. The fingerboard is a bit narrow but I have yet to feel cramped on it, though I'm used to 1-3/4" nut widths. Played fingerstyle it is an absolute joy. Without picks, it has a finger-sensitive quality-- one can hear the smallest changes of finger-angle, the shifts between soft fingers, callouses, and fingernails hitting the string. Up and down the neck, notes glimmer and then arrive with nuance and authority. Strummed, with the action extremely low, it does compress, but in a very pleasing way-- it seems designed to provide a sort of percussive rhythm-guitar quality. "Snapping" the strings gives a delightful pop to the notes and they retain their sonority rather than simply dying, as occurs with the very-young and very stolid Taylor GS. While the Taylor has begun to open up over the year of its life with me, the Blueridge seems more like a 20-year-old instrument.
If there is a complaint to make, it's with the lacquer, which is fairly thickly laid on-- one wonders what the sound would be like with a thinner finish. The detailing is almost gaudy-- the abalone is beautifully inlaid, but there's a lot of it!
This instrument's extraordinary virtues inveigled me into buying a "B-stock" BR-180, the top-of-the-line Blueridge Dreadnought, to keep at a retreat where I travel to write and think. I imagined it to be a sort of on-vacation workhorse, and was delighted to be corrected by its balance, volume, authority, and subtlety. Like the BR-183, it has become a favorite of mine, and of the band's-- requiring that I trek it back for performances regularly. Both these instruments have been fitted with Fishman undersaddle pickups that are led into a Fishman Aura for recording and performance, and the result is amplified sound almost exactly corresponding to the sound of the instruments in rehearsal in a living room-- quite an achievement.

Normandy Guitars ATB-RR Archtop Bass Guitar (Powdercoated, Rat Rod Grey) Review

Normandy Guitars ATB-RR Archtop Bass Guitar (Powdercoated, Rat Rod Grey)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A week ago I had never heard of Normandy guitars and now they are definitely in my top three list of favorite guitar manufacturers. Amazon was having a crazy bass sale last week. Many basses were being offered for over 50% off. I was looking with the intent of buying a few to sell with the hope of earning myself a free bass. I found this Normandy among the sale offerings and was definitely curious. I did a little research, watched a few youtube videos, and read some articles and reviews. All of which just aroused my curiosity even further. Since Amazon has such pain free returns I decided to give it a shot. It was one of the best decisions I've made in my life. This bass is constructed from pure genius and coated heavily in awesome sauce. First off looks. At first glance it pretty much looks like any old arch top bass and then the rivets catch your eye. Hmmm...this is a little different. What you've got is the elegance of an old school arch top and the complete badassness of a tank. I've only had three or four friends see this instrument so far and every one of them has been extremely impressed. Players and nonplayers alike. It is a true beauty. I'm no expert player or sound tech so my review of it's sound will be brief. Basically it sounds and plays like a really high quality classic bass. Nice bell/piano like super clear tones of a Rickenbacker and the fact it's made of aluminum is barely noticeable audibly. If you use a very heavy attack or play close to the bridge you can hear the slightest metallic "ring" in the sound but other than that you would be hard pressed to notice this bass is made of anything other than wood. Simple controls make this bass a breeze to dial in. It definitely doesn't have the broad range of tone of a modern active bass but what it does it does exceptionally well in my opinion. Does great for classic rock, punk, and jazz. A great instrument built by a great new company right here in the USA. Very close to me in Salem Oregon actually. If you are looking for a true modern classic this is bass for you.

Parker Fly Deluxe Electric Guitar (Galaxy Gray) Review

If you haven't played a Parker, make sure that you pick one up at a reputable dealer and have them demo it for you. You'll either love it or you'll hate it, but you have to be willing to think outside of convention. Most electric guitar designs have been around for many decades, but the Parker is something new and innovative. I have never played a guitar with a neck like a Parker, and I find myself comparing everything else to it.

Hagstrom Tremar Super Swede Electric Guitar (Black Gloss) Review

Hagstrom Tremar Super Swede Electric Guitar (Black Gloss)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought mine pretty mint in a pawn shop with custom hardcase for $450. No way I would pay $805 for this unit. Although it has a lot going for it - resinator fretboard, Hagstrom H-truss, Hagstrom Bigsby style tremelo, staircase tuner keys, tone switch, it is still an Asian Les Paul at heart.
The tone switch is nothing more than putting a capacitor or two in the circuit, which only cuts frequencies and a couple db in the process. I leave mine in bypass. The buckers are just fine. So it comes down to the Hagstrom version of the Bigsby, which you end up paying about $250 for over an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus. The roller bridge is a good thing, helping tuning greatly even with big dips on the whammy handle. But I don't know if it's worth it. If you want that slightly unique Hagstrom name, AND a Bigsby, this is for you. If you want the Les Paul sound and a Les Paul body with a quality Asian made guitar, also look at Epiphone and Samick. You just might save a few hundred dollars.

Taylor Guitars 615ce Jumbo Acoustic Electric Guitar Review

Taylor Guitars 615ce Jumbo Acoustic Electric Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
2011 purchase. I absolutely love my new 615ce. It's perfect, has a great balanced sound, strong even blend. It's amazing with finger picking and I'm finding its sweet spot for strumming. The ES electronics is bizzar. I wish I could have found more reviews that weren't promotional materials to understand the problems with this pick-up system. Maybe in time I'll find a solution... or just put a better system in the guitar. Currently the high B and E strings are louder than the rest of the strum. They stick out and make the sound unbalanced... totally unlike the amazing natural sound of the guitar. I even sent it back to Taylor for them to work on it... but it came back to me sounding pretty much the same. I would give the guitar a 5 star... but I mainly play live and plugged in... which is not enhancing the bands overall sound. OUCH. YUCK. I've put other guitars in our system and can make them beautiful sounding. I worked on the Taylor in our system for 1/2 hour and never came up with a satisfactory sound... until I put a mic on it, which then instantly made it sound the way it's supposed to. After spending so much money on a guitar, I wish it would sound on stage like it does in the privacy of the show-room or my living room... especially since that's exactly what Taylor is promoting their ES to do. I feel like I've been lied to... hood-winked. The emperor has no clothes... "It's a great system, the best." All of Taylor's promotion says in videos and written. UMMM... are you hearing the same thing I am? Please listen to the guitar in the store and check the system out first before buying... and try two or three kinds of amps just to be sure you know what your dealing with. I hope and pray my attitude about this pick-up will change over time. Maybe there is just something I'm missing that I've never missed in my 25 years of playing and sound mixing.

Fender Black Ashbory Fretless Electric Bass Guitar With Gig Bag - New Review

.....this just did not feel comfortable. The rubber strings felt,...well like rubber. I had to use baby powder to move up and down the strings. They were sticky and kept falling out of the grooves on the neck. I have heard some people really like this bass. I would suggest find it in a local shop and test it and go home and think about it then come back and test it again. I purchased it on line and got stuck with it because too much time went by, so I could not return it. When I traded it in I only got $75 for it. Good luck.

LightWave Saber Bass SL 5-String Fretless, UltraBlack Review

LightWave Saber Bass SL 5-String Fretless, UltraBlack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The first thing I did was put TI Jazz flats on this bass. The stock roundwounds were very nice (have no idea what brand), but the flats are what I really wanted.
Action of the bass is very low and fast. The neck adjusted very well and easily to dead flat, right where I like it. The range of tones available is wide, setup of optics after changing strings is easy. The manual is clear and simple as to how this beast is different from regular pickups. The bass is very light weight and well balanced.
Customer service at Lightwave was outstanding answering my numerous questions prior to sale.
Some places in the finish were not quite up to snuff (a few lines in the finish where it appeared deeper grain had not been filled) and the B string bridge is just a hint out of alignment with the other four. Those two items notwithstanding, this is a gigging bass and functions very well. All in all, it's a keeper with a very smooth feel in the neck and a solid potent sound.

Ovation Standard Balladeer 2771AX Acoustic-electric Guitar, Black Review

Ovation Standard Balladeer 2771AX Acoustic-electric Guitar, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own a Balladeer in black. It's a very pretty guitar. The inlay work is skillfully done as is the scalloping. It's the first professional quality guitar I bought, and it nearly made me gasp when I first took it out of the case. The finish is very nice, and it has stood up to several years of hard playing. I now own several others, and this is still my "go-to" guitar. It is very good looking.
I play mine un-plugged more than plugged. It's adequate that way for a very small venue. It needs an amp to really shine. I use it around the house un-plugged, and it still plays fine. I really like the fret-board on this guitar. I play it a lot when I'm writing songs and don't feel like plugging in, and the fret-board is very comfortable in my hand. It doesn't caue pain with extended playing like some other guitars I've used. The price is very reasonable for a good quality guitar.
All in all, I like the Ovation Standard Balladeer very much. I recommend it to anyone whether you're playing around in your house or playing around in Madison Square Garden. It's up to the task for any acoustic guitarist.

Breedlove Revival Series OOO-R-Deluxe Acoustic Guitar, Made in U.S.A. Review

Breedlove Revival Series OOO-R-Deluxe Acoustic Guitar, Made in U.S.A.
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is my first adirondack spruce guitar and it is LOUD!! It sounds like a spruce/rosewood guitar should sound just 5 times louder. It has a good bass response. The OOO body is very comfortable to play and the neck is great. I've had a Breedlove Atlas AC25/SR Plus before and never really got comfortable playing it. The revival series is truly wonderful. This is my first custom shop guitar and having a quality instrument certainly makes a difference. I got this guitar at an extreme discount and likely wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise. Custom shop guitars are expensive, but if you can find one at a discount they are worth it. The build quality is phenomenal. The guitar is very light where the Atlas I had was really really heavy. You just won't be disappointed. It has 12 frets above the body which doesn't bother me as I don't do much work up there and i have other guitars to play if I need to.
I installed a K&K Pure Western Mini. The bridge plate is not that big so if you install the transducers directly under the saddle the middle and high-string transducer will be hanging off the bridge plate. I ended up removing the high-string transducer and moving it back on the bridge plate. It sounds great.
This is my favorite guitar.
